The Kingmaker System-Chapter 66 - 65. See You Again, Dragon
Chapter 66: 65. See You Again, Dragon
"Re-Ocean, are you all right?" Silas asked as he approached me and I nodded.
"You came right on time, I would have killed them."
Silas stared at me for a moment before he placed his hand on my shoulder.
"You’re still releasing mana, calm down."
I inhaled deeply and my mana retired back to my being and ebbed and flowed inside my body in its natural harmony.
"Sir Ocean?" I turned to look at Davian who stared at the humanoid Dragon under my foot.
"Is that a Dragon?" Silas frowned and I shook my head.
"Not a Pureblood Dragon." I clarified and got my foot off of his chest.
"Take them to the castle and put them in the dungeon, we need to interrogate them." I ordered the knights who had rushed on sight.
"Were these the ones who tried to destroy the Wall?" Davian asked and I nodded.
"These were also the ones who destroyed the Third Wall."
Davian’s fists clenched and he looked at me.
"Did they..."
I shook my head, "I’ll interrogate them about it later."
Davian’s lips pursed in a firm line and I placed my hand on his shoulder.
"Argh!"
"Get him!"
I turned to look at Clyde who had pushed off the knights who were trying to get him and rushing towards Drac.
"Too bad but we’ll have to leave for now." Clyde spoke as he reached Drac and grabbed him up.
"We’ll see you again, Dragon."
I narrowed my eyes and shot a water slicer at him but he threw something at me and I saw something flash in his hand before I felt Silas grabbing my arm.
"Get down!" He shouted and I was pushed on the ground with Davian under me and I heard the sound of the explosion.
I turned my head to see the place where Clyde and Drac were and found it empty expect for the aftereffect of the explosion of the bomb that he threw.
Silas had created a mana shield which protected me and Davian but the other knights weren’t as lucky as they were thrown away and the land was slightly caved in and the snow was gone from that area.
They were gone.
"Ugh!"
"Ow..."
"What happened?"
The knights were disoriented while I was angry at letting them slip away so easily even after having them right here. Still, I caught something that might act as a clue so, I might not need to interrogate them after all.
"Are you two all right?" Silas asked looking at me and Davian.
Davian had a dark expression on his face as he saw the empty space and I placed my hand over his shoulder.
"Let’s return to the castle."
"But they-"
"They’re long gone, we can’t locate where they went." I said.
"That’s not possible!" Sir Ivan who had rushed with Davian and the rest said.
"They’re gravely injured, they can’t have gone too far, besides that monster was too heavy for that man to carry on his own."
The other knights who seemed to have gathered their senses started siding with Ivan and I sighed.
"They used an explosive to push us off their backs and they teleported away using a teleportation device. We couldn’t know for sure where they went so, following around blindly is pointless." Silas explained.
"Lost them again." Davian mumbled and I squeezed his shoulder without any word.
We returned to the castle and Silas asked to have a private talk as he had heard the word "Dragon" from Clyde’s mouth.
"Did they figure out that you have Dragon’s power?" He asked and I nodded.
"The other guy, he was a Lesser Dragon, he knew it in an instant that I was one. Though he seemed to think that I was the one with Mana Heart instead of a Dragon’s successor."
Silas looked at me with a strange look.
"What?"
"You inherited that Dragon’s Mana, Reina." He said.
"Yes, I know."
Silas sighed, "Dragon’s Mana source is their heart, Reina. If the Dragon gave you his Mana then he also gave you his Mana Heart."
I frowned at Silas, Mana Heart wasn’t an easy thing to be transferred as per what I had learned. No human was capable of inheriting it, a Dragon was born with it and if a human had to have a Mana Heart then he had to go through hell to have it which was the life source of a great Dragon.
Silas sighed and ran his hand through his face.
"All right, that aside. Did you figure out who those two were?" Silas asked and I looked at him.
"I may have."
Silas leaned ahead.
"Is it the Golden Serpent again?" He asked and I shook my head looking down at my entwined fingers.
"I’m afraid not. But I’m not sure. I caught a glimpse of something but I need to be sure before I say anything."
"Is it a formidable enemy?"
"Not sure, but if I’m fighting then maybe no. But still, it will be a large scale affair if I’m right."
Silas frowned, "That bad, huh..."
"I’ll need to expand the scope of my investigation." I mumbled.
"Do you need my help?"
"I might need it, but before that I will need to talk with Davian and gather some more intel before I make a move."
"Do what you want but make sure that you remember that you have people waiting for you." I looked at Silas who had a serious expression on his face.
The next morning, the castle was buzzing with activity as there were nobles all around since the Ball was interrupted midway and everyone wanted to know what was going on.
Most of all they were there for their own safety as there was a possibility of the Walls breaking anytime.
My name was being circulated as the Hero of North who protected the Wall and fought off the attackers on his own. I wasn’t going around to meet anyone yet, I had recieved a lot of messages from the people who wished to see me.
I rejected them all and stayed in my room until I received the message from the one whom I was waiting for.
I covered my face and put on the invisibility brooch before I leapt off the window in the night air.
My wings unfurled from my back carrying me higher up than I was used to and I received a notification which made my eyebrows jump.
[Congratulations! Two pairs of Angel Wings have been Unlocked.]
Up until now, I was having only one set of wings but now I had two, there was only one more pair to be unlocked now for me to have all six wings.
I found Lyall waiting outside the castle as I had told him to and from there we made our way towards Izkar.
The entire black market now knew of the new Boss of the most dangerous assassination guild Raven Heart and also the person who tamed the Elves and Dwarves.
Those who had seen me on spot were easier to distinguish as they flinched and scampered away when they saw me passing by.
I went over to the Raven Heart guild base and Kyrell handed me what I had asked of and I stood up to leave when Kent walked in the room.
"Oh, Master. Are you here to see the kids?" He asked and I suddenly recalled of the kids and the promise I made.
"Ah..." I looked at Kent and then at Kyrell.
"They’ve been good kids and following your orders ever since." Kyrell said.
"They are also waiting for you to return, Master. They ask about you everyday to every person, it’s almost pitiful to tell them that you didn’t come." Kent scratched the back of his head and I sighed.
"Fine, let’s go see them." I announced.
"They eat well, sleep well and not trouble anyone unless someone does it for them." Kent explained and I remembered the order that I had given the kids about killing anyone if they messed with them.
"Have they killed anyone yet?"
"Nope, but a few who did try to mess with them were injured, I took care of them later." Kent informed me and I nodded.
We had to pass only two buildings before we reached inside front of a three storey building which had the name Hera inn.
As soon as I entered the small establishment I heard the sound of footsteps rapidly running over the wooden floor and till I reached the lobby the kids were starting to pour down from the wooden stairs.
Before I knew it they pounced on me clinging to my feet and clothes all crying and shouting in glee. The lobby rang with the laughter of the kids and the personnel who worked in there also gathered around.
"Lord!"
"It’s Master, silly!"
"Oh, right! Master!"
"Master, you’re back!"
They were still speaking in Elvish and Dwarvish but the only word that would be different was "Master" which they might have picked from Kent.
"Now, now, kids. Stand in a line as I told you to and welcome the Master." Kent announced and the kids quickly scrambled over and stood in a line.
"Welcome back, Master!" They all spoke in unison in broken kingdom’s language and bowed before me.
"You have been teaching them some useless stuff, Kent." I spoke.
"What? Do you know how hard it was to teach them this within this short time, Master?" Kent whined.
The elf girl whom I had interacted with frequently stood at the head of the group and looked up at me.
"You came for us, Master!" She grinned and I couldn’t help but feel slightly guilty for dragging them into my mess.
These kids had their hopes on me and also were dependent on me, if anything were to happen to me then their lives would go back to hellish road that I took them off of.
I was taking up more and more people under me and was being responsible for their lives now.
I just hoped that the reason why my Patrons had selected me for worked well enough to save this world.
