Chapter 95: 94. Promises To Keep (3)

The whole Mordino was engulfed in the claws of war as the RA and the Tyrant’s army had engaged inside the capital.

Davian’s army was fighting at the outskirts of the kingdom while RA was cleaning up the trash from the inside. It was just as I had planned.

It was a planned revolution and now the only thing remaining was the climax.

I was currently flying over the skies of Mordino rushing straight towards the palace where my team was fighting for my sake.

I still felt slight discomfort in my chest but I touched the stone on the pendant that Mirror handed me and it calmed me down a little.

"Take this with you," she had said while handing it to me.

The pendant was placed on a gold chain with the clear white stone. I had assumed for it to be a magic stone but it shocked me when I noticed what it was.

Miri had told me that this was the artifact that was passed down in her family for generations after the Great War of the Dragons with the Demons. She knew that it was a relic of sorts and a really important thing that’s why when she was escaping the palace she took it with her.

"Can’t believe I stumbled upon a piece of a Dragon’s heart here." I mumbled still finding it hard to believe.

With the centuries passed and the obvious death of the Dragon whose heart it was, this stone was nothing more than a magic stone of a high quality yet, being a Dragon myself, I could feel the mana of the past Dragon still lingering in this stone. It was as if the Dragon’s will to protect this land was immortalised in this stone.

This made me wonder if the story that I had heard was also the truth about Saintess Miella and the Dragons and also of Demons.

I shook my head and decided to think of it later as the palace came into view and I could see the horde of people fighting down there.

I spotted Sniper and Burglar with the guards which were easily twenty times their numbers. It was obvious that they were strong but because of the great number on the enemy’s side it was hard to keep fighting with the same strength. Being surrounded by the enemies was probably the worse kind of situation you could be in.

Currently, they were standing back to back

I didn’t think much as I shot down from the sky and landed on the ground with my Dragon’s Presence activated on full scale.

I could hear the choking sounds and gasps as the Tyrant’s army was slammed to the ground with my Dragon’s Presence. With the increased synchronisation the strength of my Mana Presence had also increased.

"Ma-Master?"

"Master, is that you?!"

I turned to look at my team members who were bleeding and seemed like they were about to collapse. I made sure that they wouldn’t be affected by my Dragon’s Presence but regardless they seemed in a really bad shape.

Their eyes glistened and my blood boiled with rage as I saw the wounds on their bodies. Burglar stood leaning against Sniper supporting her injured leg and they both had the tears in their eyes.

How dare they hurt my people!

I increased the pressure feeling the ground beneath my feet starting to tremble and cave in as the guards gasped and begged for mercy.

I didn’t stop until all of them were squished enough to pass out because of the pressure before stepping close to my team members.

"Master!" They pounced on me.

"You’re alive!"

"We thought you died!"

"I’m sorry that I’m late."

The two cried as they clung to my arms like lost kids who finally were reunited with their parent.

"Where are Cook and Swordsman?" I asked.

"They were headed inside to fight the King." Burglar answered as she sniffed and I patted her head and then looked at Sniper.

"You two, leave this place and follow plan B."

"Plan B? You mean, you will fight the Scorpion alone?"

"Yes, I’ll send Cook and Swordsman as well, take them and leave this place." I ordered.

"Do you get it?"

"Yes, Master!"

I turned and started running towards the marble palace, I had announced my Presence in a grandiose manner so, by now the Tyrant would be expecting me to show up.

I spotted Cook outside the marble palace fighting a creature that resembled a cheetah but for some reason, it was twice the size of a real cheetah with large shoulders and long, sharp claws with its canines bared. It almost seemed like a mutant cheetah. I saw the corpse of another cheetah on the ground while Cook himself was fighting the second one with blood dripping from his arms and chest.

The cheetah mutant slashed at Cook who was barely holding up with his body seeming on edge of its human limits. The Cook brought his swords up blocking the attack but the impact made him stumble back, he still held his ground and faced the swift attacks of the mutant.

I walked ahead making the cheetah straighten, it turned it head for a split second to look at me and the Cook took the opening and slashed his sword at its throat but the swift creature jumped back baring its fangs at me this time.

"What are you looking at you ugly tub?!" Cook sneered as he failed to notice me coming from behind me.

"I’m your opponent!" He shouted as he launched at the cheetah making it slash and nearly taking out the arm of Cook.

I reached out and placed my hand on the Cook’s shoulder shooting a water slicer taking out the head of the large beast whole Cook turned and looked at me.

"Ma-Master?!" He gasped.

I looked at his blood that was oozing out of the deep cuts that were all over his body.

"Master, you’re... you’re really alive or am I..."

"I’m alive, Cook. I’m sorry, I’m late." I said and he sniffed making me patted his shoulder softly.

"I’m so... glad that you’re all right." He slumped over my side and I sighed.

"I’m sorry, you got so much hurt like this."

He shook his head, "I’m sorry for failing you, Master."

"Where’s Swordsman?" I asked.

"He went inside." He pointed at the marble palace from where I could hear the sounds of metal clashing.

"And what are these?" I asked looking at the corpses of the two mutant cheetahs.

"Tyrant’s pets."

My eyebrows jumped as I recalled the two cheetahs which I had just seen the other day. It wasn’t normal for them to turn into such mutants.

For some reason, I recalled Salem’s words from when I showed him a small water ball.

"There’s no need to worry about it, I could help increase your mana."

"I could make your mana grow to the point that you could create a much larger water source."

I thought he might be bluffing at that time but watching these two mutants I was starting to wonder what kind of notoriety Salem was up to.

"Return to Sniper and Burglar, they will be waiting at the gates of the palace. Tell them to leave, I’ll bring Swordsman after I’ve taken out the Tyrant." I ordered and the Cook nodded with a relieved looking smile.

"Yes... Master!"

I saw him trudge back towards the gates of the palace before I made my way towards the marble palace.

I stepped on the carpet with my Dragon’s Presence charging the air around me, I could smell Lyall’s blood in the air and it irked me even more.

My most trusted and right hand man was injured.

I stepped inside the audience hall and noticed the two oppenents that were fighting against Lyall.

A Lesser Dragon and a human who seemed more like the mutants that I saw outside. It was unmistakably Drac and Clyde.

I recognised them right away but for some reason they seemed like they were beyond help.

But for some reason, I could see their mana presences to be increased, especially that of Drac’s.

I stepped ahead making him turn to me, Lyall slashed his sword and Clyde gripped it with bare hands. His hands were turned into claws making it hard for Lyall to fight both of them as one had claws stronger than blade and other’s skin was nearly as strong as titanium.

Lyall was obviously having a hard time.

Clyde and Drac growled looking at me as I shot the water made lances straight at them making them jump away from Lyall.

Lyall paused for a split second before he turned and looked at me.

"Ma... Master?!" He gasped and I saw Drac jumping on me with his mouth opening. I could feel his mana accumulating at his mouth.

I gripped Lyall’s hand and pulled him behind me as the passive skill of Shield of Invulnerability activated itself taking Drac’s attack.

Just as the attack was done I saw Clyde pouncing to attack at me, I shot a water jet at him hitting him straight into his abdomen making him fly off.

Drac’s attack came swiftly and even Clyde who even after being injured ran towards me.

Clyde’s eyes were completely red with his body releasing steam, he was growling like a Beast and his demeanor was completely different from when I saw him last time.

He was human at first but now, I guess, I was facing the two monsters who didn’t have any control over their actions.
