The Mind-Reading Mate: Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me?!-Chapter 145: The Queen Doesn’t Need to Wear a Thick Coat
Chapter 145: The Queen Doesn’t Need to Wear a Thick Coat
The next day, luckily, Primrose didn’t wake up too late even though she had gone to sleep in the middle of the night.
Still, when she glanced at the clock, it was already pointing to ten. That meant there was a high chance they wouldn’t make it to the second inn before sunset.
"What would happen if we traveled at night?" Primrose asked Solene and Marielle, who were helping her get dressed.
Honestly, she didn’t get it. If they were worried about bandits showing up after dark, didn’t that sound a little silly?
Edmund was riding in the same carriage with her. Any bandit who dared to stop the King of Beasts was clearly tired of living.
"It’s because of the weather, Your Majesty," Solene explained gently. "As we get closer to the Moonshadow territory, the air will turn colder, especially at night. That’s why, traveling at night wouldn’t be safe for you."
[Even if Her Majesty is inside the carriage, it might be hard to stay warm while the carriage keeps moving. She might get cold and suffer during the journey.]
Why did everyone keep saying that? She had lived through winters in her homeland. Surely, a little cold was nothing she couldn’t handle.
"Then ... if we don’t make it to the inn, where will we stop?" Primrose asked.
Solene answered, "We’ll set up camp. It won’t be as comfy as a proper bed, but it’s still a better choice than forcing the trip through the cold."
Primrose remembered seeing some soldiers loading tents into the supply wagon.
She didn’t know much about camping, but even she could tell those tents were thick, probably as thick as the ones people used for expeditions to icy mountains.
Moonshadow City was only in the ordinary mountains, right? Why were they acting like they were heading to the top of a frozen peak?
Because of their overly cautious attitude, Primrose started to think that the cold might really be so deadly it could freeze her bones.
Maybe ... she should listen and let them take care of her the best way they could.
"Let’s hope we can still make it to the second inn," Marielle said as she tied the coat around Primrose’s body and nodded. "You’re ready, Your Majesty."
Primrose blinked in surprise when she realized how thick and fluffy the coat was. She already felt hot, even though she had worn it for less than five minutes.
"Why didn’t you pick another coat?" she asked Marielle. "I think you packed a thinner one somewhere."
Marielle then looked at her very seriously. "Your Majesty, with all due respect, it’s better for you to keep this coat on because we’re about to enter a much colder region."
Primrose wanted to protest, but after seeing how firm Marielle’s expression was, she sighed and gave in. "Alright. I’ll wear it."
After all, if she didn’t feel cold during the journey, she could just take the coat off inside the carriage.
"Your Majesty, we’re ready to leave," Callen suddenly called from outside the door.
Primrose stood up from her chair and walked out with Solene and Marielle by her side.
To her surprise, Edmund was also wearing a thick coat, which made her wonder, was Moonshadow really that cold, even the mighty Lycan King needed that coat?
"I’m sorry for rushing you, my wife," Edmund said as he took her hand and helped her up into the carriage.
Primrose smiled. "Don’t worry about it. I should be the one apologizing for oversleeping." She covered half of her face with a fan, turning her gaze away shyly. "You should’ve woken me up earlier."
Actually, Primrose didn’t even know what time she had fallen asleep last night, maybe midnight or past midnight.
It was because she had dozed off in the wooden tub, while resting her head on her husband’s shoulder.
When she woke up, she was already in bed, dressed in clean nightwear, clear proof that Edmund had taken care of her the night before.
What made it even more embarrassing was the way Solene and Marielle had been thinking about her and Edmund’s ... unholy activities last night.
They might not show it on their faces, but Primrose could hear their gossiping thoughts as clearly as the sky.
If she could’ve buried herself alive from shame, she absolutely would’ve.
"It’s really not a problem, even if you woke up late," Edmund said as he climbed into the carriage and closed the door behind him. "I’d already thought through every backup plan before we set out, so there’s no need for you to feel bad."1
In other words ... did that mean Edmund had expected they would end up having sex at the first inn? Unbelievable.
She shook her head lightly, trying to shake off memories of what happened last night.
To keep the thought from creeping back, Primrose quickly changed the subject. "Are you cold? It’s rare to see you wearing such a thick coat."
"Oh, this?" Edmund glanced down at his dark blue coat, which was trimmed with thick bear fur. "I’m just wearing it as a precaution."
"A precaution for what?" she asked curiously.
"In case your coat isn’t warm enough," he replied. "You can use mine. Don’t worry, I don’t get cold easily."
He continued in his thoughts, [Or ... maybe she could just curl up under my coat so I can hold her the whole way there.]
Primrose silently hoped they wouldn’t end up doing anything indecent in the middle of their journey because honestly, if they kept having sex all the time, it might take them a full week to reach Moonshadow City.
She wanted to treat this trip like a honeymoon, but please, she still remembered her real reason for coming to Moonshadow: to kill the Marquess of Moonshadow.
"I’ll be alright, husband," Primrose said earnestly with a smile. "I’m used to the cold winters back home."
But the moment they stepped into the colder territory, she instantly took those words back. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
The winters in her homeland felt like spring compared to the biting cold near Moonshadow.
