Chapter 1367: Evaluation

Leon, in his military uniform, stood straight, accompanied by several of his men, to greet Fargo. Although his name was Leon Blackburn, people preferred to call him General Leon rather than General Blackburn. why? He felt it suited him more.

"General Leon Fargo extended his hand.

"Mr. Elkhandt," Leon gives a firm handshake.

"It’s always strange to be called Mr. Elkhandt by you," Fargo makes a light comment.

Leon’s expression hardened, "As someone in a high position, we must set the example to people around us to behave with dignity and honor, especially you, as the Archknights, you have the responsibility to preserve the King’s prestige in front of other people and—," he preached.

Fargo chuckled as he listened to Leon’s long and wide preach, the tone of which had not changed since he first heard it when he was sixteen. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

Leon had once been his uncle Zargan’s protégé, he was one of the few who could fight hand-to-hand with his uncle, though in the end, Leon said Zargan went easy on him.

Even after he rose to the rank of equal to his uncle, Leon still had not lost his respect and admiration for Zargan. This is why, after Zargan and the king died under Nazareth’s wrath, he took the task of protecting Lory and L’Markieth very seriously. When Lory was gone, he was also one of the people who took the news the hardest.

Fargo raised his hand in surrender. "Okay - Okay, my bad." If he let him continue preaching, it would dawn before it’s finished.

Leon snorted loudly because he knew Fargo had intentionally interrupted his ranting. Then, Leon saw an unfamiliar face in the group. Leon sized up Zhao Li Xin and Lory, then turned to Fargo: "New Noxcra agents...?" Judging by their temperament, Leon could sense they were not ordinary people.

Fargo smiled faintly without confirming or denying. Understand Fargo had his own considerations as an Archknight, Leon did not ask further.

"Alright, you guys came to test your weapons, right?" Leon looked at the researchers carrying the iron box.

"Is the Bael ready?" Fargo asked.

"Hm... more or less, let’s walk and talk, shall we?" Leon invited Fargo to follow him.

Sciron is a large arena with five floors, including the basement. The basement is used as a storage area for weapons and also as a place to confine wild animals and dangerous objects that will be used for experiments. The second floor is an open area guarded by simple steel fences protected by soldiers in heavy armor and weapons. Their job is to handle the situation if the experiments get out of control.

Meanwhile, the third floor is an area for researchers to observe the experiments. The entire floor is protected by special glass to withstand heavy impact. In addition, the glass is also cast with powerful defense spells to ensure the safety of all the researchers who work there.

continue on, on the fourth floor is a resting area with a pantry, lounged, and bedrooms for everyone who might work overnight. Finally, the top floor is a meeting room and office for high-ranking officials like Leon.

Leon led them to the observation room on the third floor. Lory looked around, filled with sophisticated equipment and large flat screens showing the arena from various angles. The words that crossed her mind were ’Big budget’

"I heard you increased the defense of this place?" Fargo knocked on the thick glass in front of him, the quality had been upgraded again.

"Cause someone has a bright idea to bring Bael to this place, so I ordered the gifted people and creators to strengthen this entire place before the Bael come." Leon glared at Fargo.

Feigning ignorance, he joked, "I had no idea how you made Fred approve the budget."

"Tsk, it’s not easy..." Leon grimaced.

"Anyway, you haven’t answered how Bael is?" Fargo asks.

Leon’s expression turned heavy, "Because I can’t be sure whether the creature’s condition is good or not, you know the creature didn’t react when it was in the isolation room but when it smelled a human, the creature suddenly became violent as if there was a switch on the creature."

Lory’s expression deepened while Zhao Li Xin’s eyes were filled with curiosity. Fargo glanced at Lory briefly before turning his attention back to Leon. "So the creatures were triggered by humans’ scent. How do they react to other beasts?"

"As long as the monsters keep their distance, the Bael tend to ignore them, but this is only based on one type of Bael, and we don’t know how other types of Bael would behave," Leon replied.

"Based on the evidence we’ve seen so far, the Bael reacted violently with humans. The question is, were they trained to behave that way, or were they created that way?" Lory’s words caught Leon’s attention.

"That’s a good question, the researchers asked the same thing," Leon’s eyes turned into crescents as he smiled warmly at Lory.

"And what did they conclude?" Fargo continued.

"The initial conclusion might be because of the life seeds they consume according to the information you gave us, but nothing can be confirmed until we know what kind of crap they feed these creatures" Leon snorted in disgust, he didn’t understand why anyone would create such monsters, was the Dark Ages War not enough for them?

The sound of heavy metal shifting was heard, followed by heavy footsteps entering the arena. It was the giant frog, Cartabera, covered with vines.

"Hey, let me test it," Lory said suddenly.

"Are you sure?" Fargo wasn’t worried; he just wanted to ensure Lory knew what she was doing.

"Well, I’ve fought Bael before, so I know how to deal with that thing. Besides, this will be a good lesson for our soldiers to learn how to face Bael, right?" Lory’s eyes glint mischievously as she speaks.

Leon said while rubbing his jaw, in amusement, following with a curious glint in his eyes, "Oh, the little girl wants to teach my men?"

Lory opened both of her hands and said lightly, "Who knows, I might surprise you."

Despite knowing Lory’s abilities, Ethan was still worried about her: "That Bael is very strong. Are you sure you’ll be okay?"

"Don’t worry, I have safety insurance here~" Lory patted Zhao Li Xin’s chest.

"Nothing will happen to her as long as I live," Zhao Li Xin stared straight at Fargo as if he had sworn to him.

Fargo understood what he meant, then Fargo nodded his head in satisfaction, "Not bad..."

On the other hand, Ethan felt jealous of Zhao Li Xin’s confidence in his own ability; alas, he did not feel the same confidence about himself.

"Then I’ll cancel my plan to do the test," Leon said, then he took his phone.

Although Ethan felt uneasy about sending Lory to face Bael, he also had no reason to stop her. Ethan opened the box, and inside were three crystal cylinders in three different fluorescent colors: yellow, orange, and red.

"Why are they different colors?" Lory raised her eyebrows at Ethan. Ethan scratched his cheek in embarrassment,

"Well, while we’re sure the device would work, but we don’t know which one would be more effective, so you’ll have to test all three to see which one is the most effective."

Lory understood her task. She took all three cylinder crystals and slipped them into her leg holster. "Let’s not make the bael wait for long, shall we?" Lory said casually, without a trace of worry crossing her face.

Zhao Li Xin and Fargo knew her abilities, so they smiled at her playfulness.

But the others thought Lory was too arrogant, maybe she wanted to show off in front of the Archknights. Whatever it was, they hoped Lory wouldn’t ruin this test because they had spent a lot of money and time to make this device, and hoped it all ends in vain simply because of one person’s arrogance.

Lory feigned ignorance at everyone’s reproachful look toward her, Leon wasn’t too worried even though he didn’t know about Lory’s abilities, he had full trust in Fargo’s judgment.

"Open the shield," Fargo gives orders.

The window in front of them slowly lowered, while Lory casually took the time to warm up. She stretched her neck and arms while Zhao Li Xin waited with his hands behind his back, seemingly dazed and unbothered.

They truly make everyone worry!

As the window fully opened, Fargo grinned playfully, "Have fun~"

Lory winked at him and then jumped out the window, followed by Zhao Li Xin.

Lory used the wind’s power to control her fall. Then, she did a backflip in the air and landed on her two feet right in front of the Bael.

"Hello, ugly, we meet again~"

The giant frog let out a thunderous roar. Lory raised a barrier to block the sound. Once it was done, she waved her hand in front of her nose. "Ugly and stinky, you’re still the same, froggy." She looked at the Bael in disgust.

Zhao Li Xin used Qing Gong, he glided gracefully through the air and landed smoothly on the steel railing on the second floor. His expression was cold and impassive as he stood straight like a pole with his hands placed behind his back. The man exuded a domineering and oppressive aura that could be felt even from miles away.

Someone who had experienced many life and death battles like Leon quickly pick up the intense aura from Zhao Li Xin. Leon glanced furtively at Fargo but Fargo pretended not to notice. Realizing that Fargo did not want to share the identities of these people, Leon snorted in dissatisfaction.

The giant frog with a muscular body charged at Lory, but Lory quickly jumped aside and realized that she had no weapon.

’Shoot, I forgot!’
