The Spare's Second Chance in Apocalypse-Chapter 119: Ch : An Outing Alone- Part 1
Chapter 119: Ch 119: An Outing Alone- Part 1
A few days passed, and things began to settle down.
Reports of Justice’s activities had become sparse, and the eerie tension that had been hanging in the air seemed to dissipate.
Selene allowed herself to relax—just a little.
For the first time in a while, she felt like she could breathe without constantly looking over her shoulder.
’It feels so calm. The raging headache is gone and I feel like I can do anything.’
Since she felt so calm, Selene decided that it was time for her to test her boundaries. Usually, she would have been more cautious heading out, but today felt like a great day to push her boundaries.
Also, with Justice’s activities happening less frequently, it was the safest time for her to be out and about.
At breakfast, she pushed her empty plate aside and stood up.
"I’m going to run an errand. I need a few things from the town and also need to check out the situation. I will leave in a short while."
Ethan, who had been idly spinning a fork between his fingers, stopped and gave her a pointed look.
"Take Zara with you. It’s not safe to head out alone."
Even if things were calm and nothing seemed to be dangerous, Ethan still did his best to make Selene aware of all possible dangers.
It was almost sweet...and annoying at the same time. She did not need that much care and protection.
Selene sighed but nodded.
"Fine."
She had no real reason to refuse, and Zara was more than capable if something happened.
Even if Selen was not happy about the extra protection, she did understand that she was the most vulnerable of their party....or that’s what she wanted these people to believe.
Satisfied, Ethan went back to his food, and Selene headed to her room to grab a few things before leaving.
But when Zara came downstairs, ready to head out with her, she found the front door slightly ajar and Selene nowhere in sight.
Zara blinked, confused at first, then scowled.
"Oh, come on. I only took five extra minutes..."
"Five? More like half an hour. What were you even doing to be half an hour late?"
Orion asked in a surprised voice. For this, he earned a glare from Zara which made him shut his mouth.
Hearing the frustration in Zara’s voice, Ethan looked up from his plate and immediately knew what had happened. He pinched the bridge of his nose and groaned.
"That idiot. I knew this was going to happen."
Orion, who had been silently observing, chuckled.
"You did tell her to take Zara with her. You didn’t say she had to wait. Also, Zara did take half-an-hour to get ready..."
Ethan shot him a glare.
"Not funny. We need to find her before she gets herself into trouble. Maybe I should lock Selene up after all. That way, she won’t be able to worry me this much."
It sounded almost like a joke, but the expression on Ethan’s face made it seem like anything but a joke. He would seriously lock Selene up if he remained in the same mood.
"Suddenly, I feel sorry for Selene and I also understand why she ran away alone."
Zara made a face that looked scared and sympathetic at the same time.

Meanwhile, Selene was strolling through the city streets, sipping a coffee she had just bought. A light breeze brushed against her skin, and for the first time in weeks, she felt free.
She smirked to herself.
’Finally managed to slip away without a babysitter.’
She understood that her team worried about her, but the constant surveillance was suffocating. It was as if she was in a gilded cage, and she hated it.
"I can take care of myself."
She muttered under her breath, taking another sip of her drink.
As she wandered through the streets, enjoying the relative peace, her Insight flared. The world around her sharpened, and she instantly became aware of several people trailing her.
Selene’s smirk widened.
’Perfect.’
She was already in a good mood, but now she had the chance to prove to herself—and her overprotective team—that she was more than capable of handling things alone.
With an air of nonchalance, she continued walking, pretending not to notice the people shadowing her.
She weaved through the crowds, occasionally stopping at random stalls and shops, never once making it obvious that she was leading her stalkers exactly where she wanted them.
To sell the act further, she even made sure to laugh a little at something on her phone and sip her coffee lazily, playing the part of an oblivious citizen.
After a while, she turned into a quieter street and finally entered a secluded alley.
The moment she stepped in, she dropped her carefree expression and moved swiftly.
With practiced ease, she climbed up the side of the building, using the fire escape to get to a higher vantage point. She crouched in the shadows, waiting.
Seconds later, two men entered the alley.
"Where did she go?"
One of them muttered, glancing around.
"She was just here,"
The other said, taking a step further in, confusion evident in his voice.
Selene smirked.
’Too easy.’ fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
Without giving them time to react, she dropped down from above, landing between them in a blur of movement.
The first man barely had time to widen his eyes before Selene’s fist connected with his stomach. He gasped, stumbling backward before crumpling to the ground, unconscious.
The second man reached for a weapon, but Selene was faster.
She pivoted on her heel and struck him hard across the temple with the side of her hand. He staggered, groaning in pain before his legs gave out beneath him.
In less than five seconds, both men were unconscious at her feet.
Selene crouched down and checked their belongings, quickly finding a few communication devices.
She pocketed one, then took out her phone and snapped a picture of their faces before dusting off her hands.
She rolled her shoulders, stretching slightly.
"Too easy. Ethan worries too much."
She mused.
