The Spare's Second Chance in Apocalypse-Chapter 163: Ch : A Sudden Confession- Part 3
Chapter 163: Ch 163: A Sudden Confession- Part 3
Jason stared at Selene, expecting a reaction—maybe a flustered look, maybe a hesitant nod.
His expression seemed to have a lot to say but his mouth remained closed. However, his eyes gave away how he was feeling.
’What the heck-! I did not expect to get a confession out of the blue like this. Now, what should I do? Should I back down a little? Or maybe say something...but no! That would just complicate things even more.’
Selene knew she should say something to make the situation a little less complicated, but she felt her mouth not move.
Instead, she just stood there, stunned into silence.
It wasn’t the kind of stunned reaction he was hoping for.
But Jason took it as a good sign anyway.
She must be too shocked to speak!
That only boosted his confidence.
Grinning, he stepped closer, his chest puffed out like he had already won.
"I knew it. I knew you’d be surprised, but don’t worry—you should consider it an honor that someone like me is interested in you. I will show you everything you are missing in your life."
He said, sounding pleased with himself.
He paused, waiting for Selene’s reaction.
But before he could finish whatever self-important monologue he had planned, Selene turned on her heel and walked away.
’I cannot take this nonsense anymore. I am too busy to be playing around like this.’
Jason froze.
For a second, his brain didn’t compute what had just happened.
His smile faltered.
"Hey—wait! Where do you think you’re going? I was still talking to you."
He called after her.
Selene didn’t stop walking. She saw no reason to listen to this man.
Without even looking back, she said flatly.
"I have no intention of staying here and listening to your crap. I don’t know why you thought it was a good idea to confess to me, but I’ll make this clear to you. I don’t want to date you."
Jason’s eye twitched at Selene’s clear rejection.
Her casual dismissal—like he was nothing—infuriated him.
No one had ever rejected him like this before. Not before the apocalypse, and not after he awakened.
And especially not someone like her.
A non-awakener? Walking away from him like he was beneath her?
It made his blood boil.
His fists clenched, but he forced himself to breathe deeply and suppress his anger.
No, he wouldn’t get angry.
She just didn’t understand her situation yet.
Jason plastered on a fake smile and said smoothly, "I think you’re misunderstanding something here."
Selene didn’t react.
"I’m giving you a chance. I find you attractive, and I’m willing to look past the fact that you’re... well, you. Isn’t that generous of me?"
Jason said, emphasizing the words like he was offering her a gift.
Selene finally stopped.
She turned her head slightly, just enough to give him a blank, unimpressed look.
"No need. I don’t find you attractive."
She said.
Then she kept walking.
Jason’s smile cracked.
His ego shattered.
She... rejected him?
Just like that?
His whole body tensed with rage, but instead of exploding, he took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down.
If she wouldn’t listen to reason, then he would just make her listen another way.
His eyes darkened as he activated his ability—
Poison Mist.
A faint, nearly invisible haze spread into the air.
Selene froze mid-step.
Jason smirked. That’s right.
She was paralyzed now.
His ability wasn’t the strongest, but it was more than enough to make a non-awakener feel weak, sluggish... helpless.
Jason took slow, confident steps toward her, his voice dripping with mock sympathy.
"See what you made me do? I didn’t want it to be like this, but you left me no choice."
He sighed dramatically.
Selene still didn’t move.
Jason’s smirk grew wider.
"Don’t worry! I’ll take good care of you from now on. You won’t have to worry about anything ever again—"
He said, reaching out toward her hair.
CRACK.
The next thing Jason knew, his arm was yanked behind his back at an impossible angle.
The pain was instantaneous.
His knees buckled.
His smirk vanished.
"What—?!" frёeωebɳovel.com
Jason gasped, eyes wide in shock.
How was she still moving?!
She should be weak! She should be on the ground by now!
His mind raced for an explanation.
Did she have an ability after all?!
But before he could process what was happening, Selene’s calm voice cut through the silence.
"If I started falling for abilities as pathetic as yours, then I wouldn’t have survived this long."
She said.
Jason stiffened.
There was something terrifying about the way she spoke.
No hesitation. No fear.
It was like she had dealt with far worse before—and he was nothing to her.
Jason gritted his teeth.
He couldn’t let her humiliate him like this!
He was stronger! He was awakened!
With all his might, he jerked forward, trying to use his strength to break free from her grip—
But he never got the chance.
Selene twisted his wrist even further.
A sickening crack filled the air.
Jason let out a choked scream and collapsed to the ground, clutching his arm in pain.
His vision blurred, and his breathing became ragged.
Selene crouched beside him, her golden eyes cold and sharp.
"I could break this completely, you know. But lucky for you, I have better things to do than waste my time on someone like you."
She murmured.
Jason shook with rage and humiliation.
He wanted to curse her, to threaten her, to tell her she would regret this—
But when he looked into her eyes, he froze.
There was no fear in them.
No hesitation.
No mercy.
And that’s when Jason realized—
She had never been afraid of him to begin with.
"...Stay away from me."
Selene said simply.
Then she let go of his wrist and walked away.
Jason trembled, his body still wracked with pain.
His anger burned. His pride screamed at him.
But he didn’t move.
Because deep down...
He knew.
She was stronger than him.
