The Spare's Second Chance in Apocalypse-Chapter 162: Ch : A Sudden Confession- Part 2
Chapter 162: Ch 162: A Sudden Confession- Part 2
’What do I do now? God! What do I do now? Do I need to run? Or maybe I should try making an excuse? Or...Or, maybe I should offer my body as compensation? Guys like that kind of thing, right?’
Ethan’s question left the unnamed non-awakener in a bind.
She wanted to speak, but fear choked her words before they could leave her lips.
Her hands trembled at her sides, her throat bobbing as she struggled to swallow her panic.
I-I need to do something. Otherwise, I don’t know what will happen to me. But my mouth...’
The non-awakener felt herself sweating as she looked at Ethan sitting beside her.
She had a good idea whom Ethan was talking about, but she could not fathom how someone like Ethan would know a random volunteer.
Moreover, she could not think about the reason Ethan felt so triggered.
And yet, the way this man was looking at her... like he already knew everything... made her stomach churn.
Ethan tilted his head slightly. His golden eyes, sharp and knowing, bore into her.
The silence between them stretched, suffocating.
Then, slowly, Ethan reached out and placed a hand on the woman’s shoulder.
It was a gentle action and the presence of that hand could barely be felt by the non-awakener.
But to her? It felt like a death sentence.
She flinched—her whole body jerking as if she had just been burned. She could feel the sheer power behind his presence, even though he wasn’t using any of it against her.
’I...this is terrifying. This suffocating pressure...I feel like I would die if this continues for too long.’ fгeewebnovёl.com
She didn’t know what he was capable of.
But she could tell—he wasn’t someone she should anger.
Her lips parted, and the only thing she could manage to do was apologize.
"I-I’m sorry. I did not mean to. My life was threatened, so I decided to-"
She whispered, her voice barely above a breath.
Ethan sighed, shaking his head.
"Don’t apologize. Just tell me where you sent her."
The woman froze.
But when Ethan’s fingers lightly tapped against her shoulder again—so soft, yet so terrifying—she finally caved.
She stammered out the location.
Then, without another word, she turned and ran.
Ethan watched her retreating figure with mild disinterest before rolling his shoulders and stretching his back.
"Sheesh. Selene’s way too soft-hearted. Why would she give these low-lives the time of her day? She should just crush them like bugs. You agree with me, right real Ethan? I can feel your emotions surging inside me."
He sighed.
Ethan’s other half did not answer, but he could tell that it agreed with his notion that Selene was being too soft.
She always was.
And it was starting to become a problem.
"She needs to be more ruthless."
Ethan muttered under his breath, shaking his head.
But then, after a brief pause, he scoffed to himself.
"Nah, that wouldn’t suit her. I just can’t imagine her as someone ruthless."
He muttered.
Shoving his hands in his pockets, he turned and started toward the location the woman had given him.

Meanwhile, Selene reached the designated spot and immediately noticed something was off.
The area was isolated, tucked away between half-finished structures and stacks of construction materials. There wasn’t a single person in sight.
But that didn’t fool her.
Using Insight, she scanned the area.
And sure enough—she felt someone hiding in the shadows, watching her.
Her muscles tensed.
Had someone seen through her disguise?
Was she being targeted?
Selene wasn’t about to wait and find out.
Quietly, she slipped her hand into her pocket and pulled out a stun gun.
She kept her movements casual, as if she wasn’t aware of anything.
But as she walked further in, she felt it—
A presence moving toward her.
Fast.
Selene reacted immediately.
The moment she felt fingers reaching toward her waist, she whipped around and jammed the stun gun into the attacker’s arm.
ZAP!
A crackling burst of electricity shot through the air, and the man jerked back with a startled curse.
"AH—!!"
He stumbled, clutching his arm in pain. His body tensed and twitched, his limbs momentarily unresponsive from the shock.
Selene blinked at him.
"...Who the hell are you?"
She asked, her grip still firm on the stun gun.
The man—who was not expecting this kind of reaction—looked at her with wide eyes.
"What the hell was that for?!"
He hissed.
Selene narrowed her eyes.
"You tell me. You were the one sneaking up on me."
She shot back.
The man hesitated.
He hadn’t expected her to fight back.
She wasn’t acting like a scared non-awakener.
She was vigilant.
Guarded.
That put him on edge.
"...Look, I didn’t mean to startle you. I just called you here because I liked you and wanted to talk to you."
He finally said, raising his hands slightly to show that he wasn’t trying to fight.
Selene’s expression remained blank.
"Talk to me?"
She echoed.
"Yes."
The man insisted, though he was a little less confident now.
Selene’s gaze flickered over him.
She didn’t trust him.
Not even a little bit.
But for now, she would play along.
Crossing her arms, she tilted her head.
"And your name? Because I assume you actually have one?"
She asked.
The man stiffened.
There was something about her tone—calm, but firm—that made him nervous.
For a moment, he considered lying.
But then, when he met her piercing gaze, he realized—
She wasn’t going to let him off the hook.
If he didn’t answer her now, he might not get another chance.
"...Jason. My name is Jason."
He finally muttered.
Selene gave a small, slow nod.
"Alright, Jason. And why, exactly, did you call me here?"
She said.
Jason shifted uncomfortably.
"Well, I thought you were cute, and I wanted to see if you’d go out with me."
He said, forcing a sheepish grin.
There was a brief silence.
Then—
"...Hah?"
Selene just stared at him.
Of all the things she expected—that was not one of them.
