Chapter 209: Ch 209: It’s finally Over- Part 1

Ethan stood frozen, eyes wide as he stared at Selene.

The power she had just unleashed was unlike anything he had ever seen. The air had thickened, charged with raw energy that pulsed from her like a living force.

However, the most impressive thing Selene did was to be able to command the beasts of this dungeon.

They still stood around, almost as if they had been frozen and seemed to have no intention of going after Selene or Ethan anymore.

And slowly, Selene started to relax and release the grip on her power until it could be felt no more.

"Selene...What was that?"

Ethan whispered, stepping closer.

Selene didn’t answer.

Her eyes, once sharp and focused, now looked distant. She blinked a few times, her expression blank. Then, her knees buckled, and she collapsed.

"Selene!"

Ethan caught her before she hit the ground.

The binds holding her to the dungeon finally shattered, and the entire space began to rumble. Cracks spread across the dungeon walls.

The energy that had been contained for so long was now destabilizing.

"Damn it."

Ethan muttered. He knew he didn’t have time to ask questions. The dungeon was about to collapse.

He pulled Selene’s limp body into his arms and started moving. His steps were quick, but careful.

The ground shook beneath him, making it hard to stay balanced. Stones began to fall from the ceiling.

"Almost there."

Ethan murmured, gritting his teeth.

He was not usually this tired, but somehow, whatever power Selene had used had worked on him as well.

The exit was just ahead.

He pushed himself harder, ignoring the ache in his arms as he carried Selene. Just as he crossed the threshold, the dungeon behind him caved in. fгeewebnovёl.com

A loud crash echoed, sending a cloud of dust and debris into the air. Ethan stumbled but kept his grip on Selene.

"Ethan!"

Zara’s voice reached him first. She ran toward him, Orion right behind her. Both looked worried as they took in the sight of Selene in his arms.

"What happened?"

Zara demanded, her eyes wide with concern.

"No time. She needs rest."

Ethan said, his voice strained.

Noah and Nora arrived a few moments later, helping the others who had escaped.

But as soon as Noah saw Selene in Ethan’s arms, his expression darkened. His jaw clenched, and his eyes narrowed.

"What did you do to her?"

Noah’s voice was cold, laced with anger.

Ethan didn’t respond. His mind was still replaying the events in the dungeon. Selene’s power. The way she had collapsed. The dungeon falling apart.

"Ethan! Answer me!"

Noah’s tone sharpened. He looked ready to explode, and this time, he had a genuine reason to.

Even if Noah’s anger was misdirected, it was a given that he would feel angry at Ethan for letting Selene get like this. Even Ethan felt a little guilty.

But that did not mean Ethan was going to let this slide.

Ethan finally looked up, but his face was unreadable. He didn’t have the energy to explain, but his eyes said a lot.

Noah’s anger simmered, but he sensed something was off. Ethan wasn’t defending himself. He wasn’t even arguing. That wasn’t like him.

"Bring her to my camp. It’s the most comfortable place nearby. It’s also the most secure. Most people won’t dare come closer to check what happened."

Noah said, his voice quieter now.

Ethan’s grip on Selene tightened.

For a brief moment, he hesitated, but then he nodded. Without a word, he followed Noah.

The camp was close by.

Noah’s team had set up a secure area with supplies and medical equipment.

Ethan carefully placed Selene on one of the beds. She looked so pale, her breathing barely noticeable.

Ethan stood by her side, watching her closely. The aura of the dungeon still clung to her.

It was faint, but he could feel it. His skill let him sense things others couldn’t.

Whatever had happened to Selene in that dungeon wasn’t over.

"She’s not waking up. Did something happen inside the dungeon?"

Zara’s voice was soft, but the worry in it was clear.

"She will be fine. Selene is just exhausted right now because she used too much of her power. Just give her some time to come around."

Ethan said, though his voice lacked confidence.

Nora entered the tent a few minutes later. She looked tired but relieved to see Selene resting.

"I settled the others. We don’t have to worry about them for now."

She said, brushing a hand through her hair. Her eyes landed on Selene, and her expression softened.

"How is she?"

Ethan shook his head.

"Still out. But... she’ll be fine. She’s just exhausted."

Nora frowned. She moved closer, checking Selene’s pulse and her breathing.

"Do you want me to get a doctor?"

She asked quietly.

Ethan hesitated. A doctor wouldn’t understand what was happening to Selene. This wasn’t something that could be treated with medicine or healing abilities.

"No. A doctor won’t help. She just needs to rest."

He finally said.

Nora didn’t look convinced but nodded anyway.

Ethan couldn’t stop staring at Selene.

The dungeon’s aura was finally starting to fade, but it wasn’t gone. It clung to her like a shadow, something only he could see. And it worried him.

He didn’t know what had happened back there. He had seen Selene’s power before, but this was different. Stronger. Unpredictable.

Ethan’s mind raced. What had the dungeon done to her? And why did it feel like this was just the beginning?

Nora’s voice pulled him out of his thoughts.

"You should get some rest too, Ethan."

"I’m fine."

He said, though his body disagreed.

"Liar."

Zara muttered.

Ethan didn’t argue. He couldn’t. His focus was on Selene.

"She’ll be okay."

Nora added softly, more to herself than to Noah, who looked equally worried.

Ethan wanted to believe that. But something deep inside told him that whatever had happened to Selene was far from over.

And the worst part was... he had no idea how to protect her from what was coming.

For now, all he could do was wait.
