Chapter 210: Ch 210: It’s finally Over- Part 2

’Ah, am I back here again? I feel like this place is becoming familiar to me. How long have I been floating here this time?’

Nothing around Selene made sense, and yet, she could instinctively feel where she was and what she needed to do.

Selene felt the air grow cold around her as she tried to move.

The darkness pressed in around her. Then, the shadows parted, and the familiar eye appeared.

It floated in the void, its glowing iris swirling with colors that bled into each other.

Selene’s heart pounded in her ears. Her breath caught in her throat.

’Not again.’

She knew she was dreaming. But this dream was different.

It felt too real.

Her instincts screamed danger, and every nerve in her body told her that this eye was bad news.

But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t remember what this thing was or why it kept haunting her.

"Who are you? No...what are you? Are you the one who lend me your authority?"

Selene asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

The eye didn’t answer. It never did.

"What do you want from me?"

Her voice shook, but she pushed through the fear.

Silence.

But Selene felt it.

A chill crept over her skin as she sensed the eye reaching for her.

It wasn’t physical, but she felt it tug at her core. A deep, invasive pull that sent a shiver down her spine.

Her core reacted, flaring up with the energy she had carefully stored from the other cores she had absorbed.

But the eye didn’t hesitate. It latched onto that energy like a predator sinking its teeth into prey.

Selene gasped. She felt her strength draining, her power slipping away.

’No...What is it trying to do...I can’t give in yet!’

She clenched her fists and tried to hold on.

She willed her core to resist, to push the eye away.

But it was no use.

The eye demanded more. It was relentless, pulling deeper and deeper.

Selene’s vision blurred. The pressure was unbearable. The eye was no longer content with taking a little.

It wanted everything.

’If I give in now, then I will likely lose everything. I need to resist and hold on to my self consciousness. I cannot let that thing take away my sanity.’

Her terror grew.

The eye floated closer, its colors swirling faster, devouring everything in its path. Selene felt her body growing cold, her soul trembling under its grasp.

"Stop..."

She whispered, her voice barely audible.

But the eye didn’t stop. It drew nearer. Closer.

Selene’s heart raced as her breathing quickened. Panic clawed at her chest. She tried to step back, but her body wouldn’t move.

’It’s going to take everything.’

The eye loomed over her. Its presence was suffocating, like a weight pressing down on her chest. Selene’s pulse pounded in her ears.

The world around her tilted, her vision distorting. A final voice whispered to her.

[More! Bring me more]

Then...

She woke up.

______

Selene gasped, sitting upright as her heart slammed against her ribs.

Her skin was damp with sweat, and her breathing was ragged. She blinked rapidly, her eyes adjusting to the dim light in the room.

But the terror didn’t fade. It clung to her, making her shiver.

’What... was that?’

Her body trembled as she tried to calm herself. But the moment she tried to remember the dream, her thoughts slipped through her fingers. Like trying to catch water.

’No...’

Selene’s eyes widened. She couldn’t remember.

’What happened?’

Her mind was blank.

All she knew was that something terrible had happened after entering the dungeon.

But every time she tried to recall the details, her thoughts dissolved into nothing.

The memory was gone.

"Selene?"

She turned her head and saw Ethan sitting beside her. His eyes were sharp, full of concern.

"How are you feeling?"

He asked softly.

Selene swallowed hard. Her throat was dry.

"I... I’m fine."

She murmured, but her voice was unconvincing.

Ethan’s expression darkened.

"You don’t look fine."

Selene shook her head slightly, her fingers brushing against her temples.

"I... can’t remember."

"Remember what?"

"After we entered the dungeon...It’s all hazy. I... don’t know what happened."

Selene’s voice trailed off. She frowned, her brows knitting together.

Ethan’s jaw clenched. He was about to speak, but he stopped himself. His eyes narrowed slightly, and he pressed his lips together in thought.

Before he could ask more questions, the door opened, and Noah walked in.

"Selene."

Noah said softly, his voice a mixture of relief and concern.

Selene looked up at him. He looked tired but was trying to mask it.

"You collapsed. Nora and I offered one of the Vale camps for you to rest."

Noah said gently.

Selene’s body tensed. Her mind immediately went to their father.

"Is that... okay?"

Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Noah seemed to sense her fear. He stepped closer, his expression serious.

"It’s fine. I’ve given strict orders. No one will tell Father or Mother about this."

He assured her.

Selene’s eyes met his, searching for any sign of doubt. But Noah’s gaze was steady.

"I made sure of it."

He added, his tone firm.

Selene exhaled slowly, some of the tension in her shoulders easing.

"They won’t find out?"

She asked softly.

Noah gave her a reassuring nod.

"They won’t."

Selene let out a shaky breath. But even though Noah’s words gave her comfort, the uneasy feeling in her chest didn’t go away.

"That’s good."

She murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.

Ethan stood silently beside her, watching her closely. His expression was unreadable, but Selene could feel his concern.

"Do you remember anything?"

Noah asked, his tone gentle.

Selene shook her head.

"No... nothing."

The silence that followed was heavy.

"We’ll figure it out."

Ethan finally said, his voice low but firm.

Selene wished she could believe that. But deep down, she knew something was wrong.

Something had happened.

And whatever it was...

It wasn’t over yet.
