The Spare's Second Chance in Apocalypse-Chapter 211: Ch : It’s finally Over- Part 3
Chapter 211: Ch 211: It’s finally Over- Part 3
Resting turned out to be far easier than Selene expected. By the end of the day, she felt all her exhaustion melt away and she was able to move her limbs around.
The echoing pain that her body was in did not even seem to matter to Selene at that moment. That was how free she felt.
By the end of the day, Selene was finally ready to move.
Her exhaustion was gone, and she felt strong enough to stand on her own. But the best thing was, she did not even have to take medicine for it.
She stretched her arms and took a deep breath. Her body felt lighter, and the dull ache from before was gone.
"Feeling better?"
Noah asked, standing beside her.
"Much better."
Selene said with a small smile.
Nora stood nearby, arms crossed.
"Good. But don’t push yourself like that again. I don’t want to hear the news about you passing away anytime soon. You need to live a healthy lifestyle."
Noah nodded.
"Yeah. You scared us."
Selene’s smile faded for a moment, but she quickly covered it up.
"I’ll be fine. I’ll make sure to take care of myself from today onwards."
She said softly, avoiding their eyes.
Nora wasn’t convinced.
"Since you won’t take care of yourself, I’m asking Zara to keep us updated."
She said with a sigh.
Selene’s head snapped up.
"What?"
"Good idea."
Noah said, smirking.
Zara, who had just entered the room, raised an eyebrow.
"Of course. I’ll keep them informed."
Selene frowned.
"Zara—"
"Don’t argue,"
Nora cut in, her tone firm.
Selene bit her lip but didn’t protest. There was no point.
"Traitors...all of you are traitors."
After a few more goodbyes, Selene finally headed back home with her party.

The familiar sights of her base brought her some peace. As she entered, she felt her body relax. It was finally over—for now.
She gathered her team in the main hall.
"We’ve got some time to breathe. No major missions are coming up.""
She said, her voice calmer than it had been in days. Zara let out a loud sigh of relief.
"Finally! I’ve been waiting for a break."
Orion, standing nearby, perked up.
"Does that mean... we can go on a relaxing trip now?"
His eyes sparkled with excitement.
Selene chuckled.
"I suppose we can."
Zara clapped her hands together.
"Yes! I’ve been dreaming of a trip for sometime now."
Even Orion, usually so composed, looked like an excited kid. Selene couldn’t help but smile. A break sounded good. They all needed it.
Meanwhile, Noah and Nora had just returned home. Their relief was short-lived.
Dr. Aldric was waiting for them. He stood in the hallway, a smirk on his face.
"Had a fun trip?"
He asked, his tone dripping with fake warmth.
Noah’s expression hardened.
"What do you want?"
Nora didn’t hide her suspicion.
"Why are you here?"
The doctor’s smirk widened.
"Relax, I’m just here to deliver a message."
Neither twin looked convinced.
Dr. Aldric’s eyes glinted with amusement.
"Your next mission is coming up. It might be your toughest one yet."
Noah clenched his jaw.
"And?"
"If you don’t succeed, you’ll disappoint your father."
The doctor added with a cold smile.
That made both twins tense.
"Of course, I know you two won’t let that happen."
Aldric continued, his tone was mocking, but there was a dangerous undertone beneath it.
Noah and Nora exchanged a quick glance. They hated the doctor. They didn’t trust him. But they couldn’t defy him. Not yet.
"Come. Your father wants to see you."
Aldric said, turning away.
Noah’s fists tightened at his sides, but he kept his expression blank.
Nora’s eyes narrowed.
"What does he want now?"
"Why don’t you ask him yourself?"
Aldric said over his shoulder.
Noah and Nora had no choice but to follow. Their father’s summons was not something they could ignore.
As they walked down the long hallway, the tension between them was thick.
"I don’t like this."
Noah muttered under his breath.
"Neither do I."
Nora whispered back.
But they kept walking. Neither of them had a choice.
Noah and Nora followed Dr. Aldric down the long hallway. Their footsteps echoed in the silence. Both of them felt tense. Their father had never called them like this before.
Noah exchanged a quick glance with Nora. Her face was calm, but he could sense her unease. Her jaw was clenched, and her eyes stayed fixed ahead.
"Why now?"
Noah murmured softly, just loud enough for Nora to hear.
"I don’t know. But it can’t be good."
She replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
Dr. Aldric led them with a slight bounce in his step. His amusement was clear.
That alone made Noah’s stomach churn. Aldric was never amused unless something twisted was happening.
"Relax. You’ll find out soon enough."
Aldric said over his shoulder, though his tone lacked any real comfort.
Neither of the twins responded. They both knew better than to trust his words.
As they approached the heavy oak doors of their father’s office, they spotted a familiar figure standing by the entrance.
Their mother.
Lady Vale stood tall and poised, but there was something in her eyes. A strange, guarded expression as she watched them approach.
Her gaze flicked to Dr. Aldric. A brief, unreadable look passed between them. Her lips pressed into a thin line, but she quickly masked her emotions.
"I’ll take it from here."
Lady Vale said firmly.
Dr. Aldric raised an eyebrow, his smile widening.
"As you wish, my lady."
He said, his tone dripping with mock respect. But as he turned to leave, he paused.
"Be careful not to overstep."
He murmured, just loud enough for Lady Vale to hear.
His words were a warning.
Then, with a quiet chuckle, he walked away, leaving Noah and Nora standing with their mother.
Noah felt a chill run down his spine. The doctor seemed to have spoken the words to make their mother angry and it worked wonders.
