Chapter 170: Unknown Power-II

Rip her tongue? Rip it? Was it a paper of some sort that could be ripped just because she wanted to? As she thought Juanita was bloodthirsty. And soon Arabella would realize that even if Cassius was really her owner, these ladies do not care. They know who they are, knowing how they come from a wealthy family and had always been allowed to do whatever they want. Juanita’s father especially is a general in the kingdom that was one filled with pirates. Her father doted on her a lot, even more than any of her siblings. Whatever she does was always forgiven and even the Princess of this kingdom wouldn’t dare to hurt her.

If Arabella was really the crown prince’s pet, then so what?

Lady Juanita knows that Cassius is the crown prince. She even heard rumors about him where he would even feast on another vampire’s blood for fun. He’s dangerous, someone who would even hurt his own family if they do not serve him well. But she’s still an important lady from the neighboring kingdom. Hurting her would hurt the friendship and bond with her kingdom. Besides it’s not as if she had killed Arabella right?

The punishment she would receive would not be severe. Maybe it’s just something that needed to be taken care by a few coins and jewelries and her kingdom is wealthy enough to cover that expense. She didn’t want to be Cassius’s wife and knew that her chances was low but if this could make Lucien happy and she could be married to him, this much sacrifice was as cheap as buying a molded bread.

"Why?" Juanita asked, "Scared now?"

"Maybe she can’t rip her tongue on her own," said another lady, "We can give her a hand."

"No! Ew, touching a human’s mouth? Specially this lowly being? No. No. No!"

Juanita also squeezed her eyebrows in disagreement.

"Not with our hands. Dagger, that’s what’s she needs to cut through her tongue," offered the other lady’s idea.

It was bright for certain but Arabella was in no mood to joke around anymore. She had always been someone who would try to make light of situation by making such stupid jokes but this was the extent of it.

She was in grave danger. Grave.

She then saw Juanita tossing a dagger across her feet which landed on Arabella’s laps. Beside her knees were the soup full of meat that was tossed aside because of the ladies earlier. Regret washed over Arabella who thought to herself that she should have been careful. But what carefulness could protect her when Lucien had actively tried to harm her?

"You will really regret this," Arabella said with her head thumping loudly against her chest. She could feel her hands trembling as she saw the ornate golden dagger that was carved with pearls. It was too beautiful to be imagined of taking anyone else’s life with it.

"Regret," Juanita smiled with a chuckle, "That you are really the crown prince’s pet? So then? Seems as if you think I won’t be capable of facing the crown prince’s wrath. In the end of the day he is the one who needs our support not the other way around, human. You are too foolish to understand this but well, does it even matter now? Be obedient and cut your own tongue now."

Arabella gritted her teeth. Her green eyes looked at Juanita but not to her face or eyes. Instead she looked at the spread of green and the door that was slightly opened. If she runs and gets inside Cassius’s room. Not even these ladies would dare to chase after her.

"Or should we help?"

"I can do it myself," Arabella swatted Juanita’s hands that had almost reached out to her chin. This made the lady frown but she also seemed delighted. If earlier Arabella had given her an excuse now she couldn’t. This lady was really blood thirsty and wanted to see her bleed out. It was such twisted delight for the sadistic tendency these ladies had grown up to see and learned to enjoy before learning alphabet.

Arabella was dead certain now that the problem with vampires lies in their parents that could not teach the right morales to their children. If one hadn’t been taught how to care and love, how would they know when or how to do it?

Grabbing the dagger, Arabella slowly unsheathed it. She was ready.

Juanita’s eyes sparkled. It’s as if she was about to open a gift box during the winternight celebration. As Arabella pulled the dagger over her chin, they all expect the sight and sweet smell of blood only to see Arabella who had suddenly thrown the dagger across their feet.

They all yelped at the same time, annoyed and taken aback. But when they turned to demand for answer to her, she had ran across the green field, faster than that of a horse and make her way as fast as she could to re-enter the castle. As she did, she walked to the staircase only to feel a hand that wreathed around her hair and her body that was slammed backward.

Arabella crashed and fall, her ribs aching as she had hit the side of a table. There were maids scrambling away in panic and fear while dizziness wrapped around Arabella’s head.

She had gone and done it.

She wanted to settle this as calmly as she could but a tongue? That’s impossible. It’s even worse if she destroys Cassius’s future but she didn’t want to be tongueless. Worse, she would die from losing a lot of blood first without any medical care around her, and she doubted the ladies would care.

But dying...? Dying?

Cassius...

If she dies she can’t be around him. Cassius doesn’t seem weak from outside but she had learned how his emotions were like a child’s, uncared for and had never been attended by anyone. He doesn’t know how to control it, he doesn’t know the difference between his emotions.

And though it sounds foolish, she wants to help him.

But if she does now... she could feel that Cassius’s future would grow even bleaker. What if he decided to throw all the last bits of emotions he has in him? Growing ruthless and one day sit on that throne all alone in darkness, blood, and loneliness?

Pain stung in her scalp as Juanita yanked her by the hair. Their eyes met and anger was on the red pair of those eyes, "How dare you!"

Arabella saw that at some point, Juanita had taken hold of the golden dagger. She raised her hand to grab her chin and you instinctively, Arabella squeezed the lady’s hands tightly, her last bit of fighting spirit still trying to survive.

"It would have been better if you had listened to me don’t you know that? Now you would have to regret your own action," Juanita said, "I’ll look forward to- AAHHHHHHHHHHH!"

a scream echoed from Juanita’s mouth as she stepped away and pulled the hand that Arabella had gripped tightly. Arabella felt breathless and in pain. Her head dizzy and she wondered if she had clawed to the lady’s hand which was why the vampiress had cried out.

But when she blinked her eyes and focused her gaze, she found that Juanita’s hands that was one spotless and flawless had turned wrinkly. Her skin... that hand... it had completely lost the vitality of a young lady.

Juanita was shocked and so was the rest of the ladies but before they could do anything, someone had stepped in. It was a woman’s voice, direct and warm as it cut through the noise, "Lady Juanita, Lady Saphhos, Lady Tina, what may this ruckus be about?"

Arabella was still heaving for breath when the lady came. She was worried that this lady would be on the women’s side but then she saw the same lady who had talked stopped in front of her as if serving herself as a shield between her and the rest of the ladies.

Flapping open her folded fan, the princess smiled wide across her scarlet lips, "Bullying an adorable girl aren’t you? Was your last scandal not enough?"
