Chapter 75: Renowned Hunter’s Stealth

[3. Spectral Spear (Uncommon) - Who needs a weapon when you can conjure one from mana yourself? Summon a spectral spear made of mana to either fight with at close range or at a distance, the spear can take the form of your most desired spear specifications. The power of the skill and it’s durability are based on the user’s wisdom stat and the amount of mana poured into it’s creation.]

This skill was basically a carbon copy of the skill attached to his Arcane Spear, only if he chose this he would be able to use it with any spear he wielded. The idea for this skill was likely derived from his usage of the skill on his spear, so it was pretty clear that his talent with it was recognised by the system if it was offering him the skill itself.

However, as a skill attached to an Epic weapon it proves it’s worth and is useful for sure, but is it worth having by itself? Lumen was unsure and he was certain that he wouldn’t choose it over the Heroic Stealth skill he was offered up earlier in the list. freewebnøvel.com

Unless he was presented with an even better item, he likely wasn’t going to be replacing his Arcane spear any time soon either, so this skill was a redundant choice for now.

Moving past it, he finally moved onto the final option of the list, not really anticipating anything special as he was sure that had already been presented to him as his second option.

[4. Superhuman Senses (Rare) - As a superb hunter of any beast that proves to be a worthy challenge, you deserve to have senses on par with those that you hunt! Provides the user with a slight danger sense, giving the opportunity to sense danger before any attacks are delivered. Other enhancements include increased reaction time, improved eyesight, improved hearing, improved smell, improved range of perception.]

Looking at the final skill, he could say with certainty that if he hadn’t already been offered the Heroic skill, this one would likely be the skill he would have chosen from this batch.

However, even considering that, he had already obtained the improvements listed as an added bonus with his creation of the mana circulation technique. His only question was that even if he did choose this skill, how would it stack with his already enhanced senses? Would it improve them even further, or would it be a mediocre boost that barely changed anything?

He didn’t know the answer to that question, and he wouldn’t get it any time soon as he made his choice shortly after his thoughts on the last skill ended.

[New Skill acquired!]

[Renowned Hunter’s Stealth (Heroic) - The pinnacle of all hunters, the Renowned Hunter pushed the Stealth skill all hunters were known for to a new height with his skills and talent. Incomparable to it’s Rare rank counterpart, the ability to erase one’s presence from the world is granted, completely hiding one’s aura, turning you invisible, hiding every aspect of you from the very world itself. The effects are limited and can only be effective on beings at maximum 2 evolutions higher than oneself, after that the risk comes where one can be discovered. The longer the skill is activated for, the longer the cooldown will be before one can use it again, with a maximum duration of 1 day.]

Lumen had made his decision. He had chosen the Heroic skill, Renowned Hunter’s Stealth, intrigued by the promise of taking his stealth abilities to new heights. As he activated the skill, he felt a rush of energy surging through him, and he could sense the power of this newfound ability.

Remembering the vague yet enlightening description of the skill the system provided him with, he tested the skill out immediately after choosing it. He wanted to see just how ’Hiding oneself from the world itself’ worked.

He focused his thoughts on becoming invisible, hiding not just from sight but from the world itself. He concentrated on erasing his presence, making himself undetectable to others. Gradually, his body began to blur, and he vanished from view, leaving behind only a faint shimmer in the air.

Marvelling at the effectiveness of the skill, he couldn’t see his own hands or body, and he couldn’t feel the ground beneath his feet. It was as if he had become a ghost, completely hidden from the world. He knew that this skill would make him an unparalleled hunter.

But remembering the skill’s limitations, It could only conceal him from beings up to two evolutions higher than himself. Beyond that threshold, there was a risk of being discovered. For now, he simply disregarded the fact that the skill only worked on beings at maximum two evolutions higher than himself. If he ever found himself in a situation where he was facing something like that, he had no doubt that he would be helpless with or without the skill helping him.

But it would help him in situations where he was facing foes within that range, which itself was rather powerful as it essentially provided him with a lifeline against beings at that level.

The reality of how powerful this skill was could only be put into perspective when one thinks of the levels this thing works up to.

If his thoughts were correct, level 0-25 is F tier, level 25-50 is E tier and level 50-100 would be D tier.

As he thought over the aspects most intriguing to him about the skill, he realised that only 10 seconds had passed while he was in the stealthy state. With the way the skill’s cooldown works, if he deactivated it right now he would be given a cool down of 4 minutes. If he only used the skill in small intervals then he could save himself a lot of waiting to use it again.

In the end Lumen decided to test his new ability. He moved silently through the forest, practising his stealth by sneaking up on unsuspecting F tier beasts. Nothing could catch even a feeling of his presence. With each successful approach, he grew more confident in the skill’s power.
