Transmigrating to Modern Earth from the Future-Chapter 76: A new predator is in town
Chapter 76: A new predator is in town
The forest lay shrouded in shadows, a realm of ancient trees and unseen beasts. As Lumen ventured deeper into its heart, the power of his newfound skill, Renowned Hunter’s Stealth, began to reveal its true potential.
Midnight was the time Lumen set out through the forest, using his enhanced senses to probe the forest looking for any unknowing beasts lying in wait,
One thing he noticed was that unlike every F tier beast he came across, E tier beasts were actually sometimes active at night. This was a surprising and concerning revelation to Lumen as by now every human left in the tutorial would have already become used to the comfort of the forest at night, where there is no fear of beasts running rampant,
But if one of these E tier beasts left their normal area of operation and stumbled upon an unsuspecting camp of humans, it would spell disaster.
In the tutorial, only those who could embrace the darkness of night would thrive, and now that beasts had also joined in on this activity in the night, it wasn’t looking good for Humans.
Lumen had a feeling that in the coming final days of the tutorial, there would be more deaths than in the beginning stages due to attacks in the night. Not from humans this time, but from beasts.
Ignoring the timid F tier beasts that crossed his path, Lumen pressed on, his mind set on challenging E tier adversaries. His invisible presence was his greatest asset, a weapon that set him apart from the ordinary hunters of this world.
Nothing in the tutorial would be able to detect him while his stealth was active, and he took full advantage of this and used it to encroach directly into the more powerful beast’s territories without them even catching a whiff of his presence.
The E tier beasts, with their larger stature and heightened senses, were a more formidable quarry. Lumen yearned for the thrill of facing them head-on, armed with his newfound mastery of stealth.
It didn’t take long for him to encounter his first E tier beast - a massive, horned creature with thick fur and an imposing presence. Its primal instincts warned of danger, yet it could not perceive the silent predator that approached.
[Horned Bear - level 39]
Lumen’s heart raced as he crouched in the underbrush, eyes locked onto this horned bear. The beast’s muscles tensed, a foreboding sense of unease coursing through its massive frame. It knew something was amiss, but the source of its unease remained a mystery.
It seemed this beast had good instincts as although Lumen was in his full stealth state, it still sensed something amiss. To Lumen this made sense; the skill wasn’t omnipotent and there would surely be hidden flaws not described by the system.
And here it seemed Lumen had discovered one of them, instinctual danger sense. It was only a simple warning of danger and didn’t hint at all to his presence, but it still meant that he couldn’t catch any stronger beasts off guard.
The world held its breath as Lumen inched closer, his movements as fluid as the wind itself. His invisible form gave him the edge, a power beyond what he had ever imagined.
With a final surge of confidence, Lumen drew his Arcane Spear, a weapon honed through countless battles. It gleamed with an ethereal light, a companion to his newfound stealth. The spear, now an extension of his will, responded to his intent.
Even while his spear was imbued with his bright flaming Fire Infusion spell, the bear still couldn’t even detect where the danger came from.
’The system really does work in mysterious and unfathomable ways.’
He closed the distance in an instant, his spear thrust forward with pinpoint accuracy. His flaming yet invisible spear struck the bear from it’s hind as it inserted itself right into it’s skull, poking out on the other side and coming out of it’s mouth.
The beast’s eyes widened in the final moments of its life, but it was too late. Lumen’s strike was as powerful as it was invisible, finding its mark with deadly precision.
The E tier Horned Bear fell, its roar of agony muffled by the quiet of the forest. Lumen stood victorious, invisible to all witnesses, both friend and foe. The thrill of the hunt surged through him, the culmination of his evolution as a hunter.
As Lumen continued to navigate the shadows, each step echoing with the newfound confidence of a true predator, he knew that his journey had just begun. With Renowned Hunter’s Stealth as his ally, he would seek out greater challenges, test his skills against the mightiest of foes, and ultimately ascend to the pinnacle of his craft.
But knowing that he had stayed invisible in his skill for too long, he deactivated the skill after 2 hours of usage and was greeted with the rather unwelcome sight of a 48 hour cooldown before he could use it again.
"I’ll have to be more careful in its use," Lumen muttered, contemplating the challenges that lay ahead. The forest was vast, teeming with both prey and predators, and the thrill of the hunt called to him.
But even more than the thrill of the hunt - the thrill of feeling in real time as his power grows kept him awake and vivid in the dark night.
[Ding! Killed level 39 E tier Horned Bear]
[Earned experience....]
[Ding! You have levelled up....]
[Ding! You have levelled up
Received +14 Intelligence, +14 Wisdom, + 13 Agility, + 12 Stamina, + 14 Strength, + 13 Endurance, + 10 Perception, +5 Unallocated stats.]
Just from this one kill he had levelled up twice. This bear was the highest level beast he had killed so far in the tutorial, and if he wasn’t in his stealthy state he didn’t doubt it would have also been the most powerful and difficult foe he would have faced so far.
He made his way deeper into the woods, no longer in stealth, knowing that his journey was far from over. The tutorial, once a place of mystery and terror, had now become his hunting ground.
