Chapter 29: 029 You are an unwelcome presence_1
"Are you Mengyao?"
Yao Meishu came out of the house, examining Jiang Mengyao closely, asking somewhat uncertainly.
The girl’s features seemed somewhat familiar, her clothes were somewhat worn, she looked as if she had just come back from working in the fields.
"Miss Yao."
Upon seeing Yao Meishu, Jiang Mengyao seemed a bit surprised, her astonished gaze flicking back and forth between Lu Qingyi and Yao Meishu.
Yao Meishu was her university professor.
Now looking closely, there seemed to be some relationship between Yao Meishu and Lu Qingyi, and she wasn’t aware of it at all.
But one couldn’t blame Jiang Mengyao, after all, Yao Meishu rarely returned home, almost never.
"What have you been up to?"
Yao Meishu looked at Jiang Mengyao somewhat bewildered.
Jiang Mengyao was her outstanding student. In university, she had excellent grades. She had heard that she is now a chief designer, but she didn’t expect to see Jiang Mengyao looking like a country girl.
"Miss Yao, I came back to help my parents. They aren’t willing to move to the capital with me, they are attached to this piece of land."
Jiang Mengyao shrugged with a touch of helplessness.
She was an interior design major, a student at Kyoto University, and Yao Meishu was her mentor.
After her graduation, Yao Meishu also resigned. She didn’t expect to see Yao Meishu here.
"You’re very sensible."
After graduating from college, Yao Meishu was a professor at Kyoto University until two years ago when she resigned, returned to Jin City, and helped Lu Yao manage the Lu Group.
"Miss Yao, what is your relationship with Qingyi?"
The features of Lu Qingyi and Yao Meishu were very similar. She was a bit confused.
Neither Lu Qingyi nor the even more indifferent Yao Meishu said anything.
"They are my biological mother and sister."
Lu Jiayue spoke softly, her voice gentle.
Mother?
Jiang Mengyao looked stunned at Yao Meishu. Yao Meishu’s towering figure as a teacher instantly dropped from her mind.
She had watched Lu Qingyi grow up, that girl who was soft and sticky from a young age.
When the girl was little, she liked to laugh and had a good temperament. It’s a pity that as she grew older, she became increasingly indifferent.
She never knew that Lu Qingyi had a mother.
Jiang Mengyao didn’t look at Yao Meishu. She looked at Lu Qingyi with a touch of regret, "Yiyi..."
Lu Qingyi was younger than her and she sometimes called her Yiyi out of affection.
"Miss Yao, as a teacher, I truly respect you, but as a mother, I really despise you."
She turned her head slightly to look at Yao Meishu, speaking with a touch of disappointment.
Yao Meishu opened her mouth, but eventually closed it, saying nothing...
"Let’s go, I still have to go back and cook for my parents."
Jiang Mengyao looked at Lu Qingyi. Despite her reluctance, she left.
"Sister, why don’t you explain to Mom?"
Looking at Jiang Mengyao’s departing back, Lu Jiayue bit her lip anxiously, she looked worriedly at Lu Qingyi.
Lu Qingyi countered, "Explain what?"
Was it to explain that Yao Meishu loved her very much and reluctantly left her to be raised by her grandmother?
Or to explain that Yao Meishu did not abandon her?
"Let’s go."
Lu Yao called the three of them into the car, bag in hand.
On the way to the graveyard, all four were silent, no one speaking.
"Lu Qingyi."
Suddenly, Yao Meishu broke the silence, her voice cold as she called Lu Qingyi’s name.
Lu Qingyi slightly lifted her head.
"You’re not a welcomed existence."
After a long while, Yao Meishu finally spoke, her voice still cold.
She didn’t care that Lu Jiayue was present and spoke outright.
Lu Qingyi gave a cold, mocking smile, "There’s always someone who will welcome me."
The stern face of a man appeared in her mind, along with his concerned smile.
Boyan Xu should welcome her, right?
"Meishu, stop talking."
Lu Yao’s lips were tightly pressed, he looked worriedly at Lu Qingyi.
Yao Meishu’s words were indeed hurtful.
"Mom, what are you talking about? My sister is so nice. I really like my sister."
Blinking confusedly, Lu Jiayue glanced anxiously at Lu Qingyi.
"I can move out."
Lu Qingyi’s eyes were unmoved as she spoke calmly.
After all, she didn’t stay at the Lu family’s house for long. There was nothing to miss.
"I promised your grandmother to take care of you."
Yao Meishu looked at Lu Qingyi through the rear-view mirror, speaking coolly.
She found that the girl was really beautiful, her features delicate. The short hair that many girls couldn’t pull off looked especially handsome on her.
She would probably be really beautiful with long hair, right?
Lu Qingyi fell silent.
The graveyard was quickly reached. The rural graveyard was somewhat simple. A month’s time was enough for the tomb to be overrun with grass.
Lu Qingyi got out of the car, and without saying a word, started removing the grass with a hoe.
Lu Jiayue sat in the car and didn’t come out. She kept watching Lu Qingyi through the window.
There was some contempt in her eyes.
Heh, country bumpkins sure are different; she managed to remove the grass so seamlessly.
Lu Yao came forward with a hoe to help. Yao Meishu simply stood a short distance away, watching quietly.
Her gaze was somewhat heavy as she watched Lu Qingyi, her thoughts unknown.
Once the grass was cleared, it was time to light incense, burn joss paper, set out food, and pour wine.
Lu Qingyi was very serious. As she looked at the name on the tombstone, her expression was very gentle.
At the same time, she was regretting that she wasn’t able to treat her grandmother promptly.
"Grandma, you have to do well over there."
With a somewhat grief-stricken expression, Lu Jiayue said gently.
"You talk to your grandmother."
Lu Yao looked at Lu Qingyi.
Lu Qingyi nodded.
"Grandma, you said to work hard to repair the relationship with my parents. Yiyi is trying, but Yiyi feels it’s unrealistic."
"Grandma, when I was little, I really wanted to know why my parents didn’t like me, but the nineteen-year-old Lu Qingyi doesn’t need to know anymore."
"Grandma, forgive Yiyi for not being able to cure you, even though Yiyi had the ability."
"Grandma, are you doing well over there? Yiyi misses you."
"Grandma, I’m doing very well, so rest assured over there. I am capable enough to live the life I want."
"Grandma..."
Slowly squatting down, Lu Qingyi’s tears trickled down as she spoke word by word.
In her eyes, her grandmother’s illness was not severe and could have been cured if treated earlier, but unfortunately the optimal treatment time had passed and she could do nothing.
She hated herself for having been away for so long.
Why hadn’t she taken the time to visit her grandmother sooner?
Her heart hurt so much, it was unbearable.
She rarely cried, almost forgetting how tears fell, but today she couldn’t help shedding tears.
After a long while, she wiped her tears and turned to leave.
