Chapter 36: Wanna compete with me? _1

Lu Qingyi lethargically rose from her seat, her hand rested on the table, a vague smile danced on her lips as she looked at Lu Jiayue.

She rummaged into her bag and produced a packet of White Rabbit Creamy Candy.

It was custom-made

The bold four-character phrase on the back of the package was stunningly eye-catching.

On the lower side of the packaging was a red seal revealed to the surrounding air.

Kyoto Confectionery Ltd.

It was as if the seal was a slap in Jiayue’s face; her smiling expression instantly vanished.

Many know about this company; they produce many top brand chocolate candies.

Their candies were made from top-quality ingredients, and customized versions were reasonably expensive.

Most importantly, it’s not guaranteed they would accept your custom order.

"I don’t care for your cheap candy," Qingyi said with a hum as she slightly leaned towards Jiayue, a smirk on her face.

She had noticed the seal on the package earlier, but she preferred not to mention it.

The emboldened phrase on the candy, and the crimson seal, was an open mockery of Jiayue.

Her face turned white as a sheet. She moved her lips wordlessly, looking incredulously at Qingyi.

How had Qingyi managed to get hold of a custom order candy?

She herself had made countless attempts, but Kyoto Confectionery Ltd. had never once accepted her request.

Jiang Yumeng’s eyes widened significantly and exclaimed, "Oh my gosh."

Being a food lover herself, naturally, she knew about the company.

The candies tasted fantastic.

"Sister, how did you...."

Jiayue unconsciously stepped back, her eyes filled with disbelief as she stared at Qingyi.

"Take your cheap stuff and get out of Class 20."

Qingyi’s lips parted to reveal a chilling tone, a silent oppressive aura filled the air.

Laughing at her for her rural upbringing and calling her unworldly?

Hah, she’d openly flaunt what Jiayue couldn’t get.

"Sister, you don’t need to go behind any back if you want something, you can just tell mom and dad," Jiayue voiced out with fear, her voice coming out as a soft whisper.

A silent indignation prickled in her heart.

A roundabout means?

The students in class 20 noticed the hidden undertone, whispers rippled through the room.

Teen girls getting sponsored by affluent older men weren’t unheard of, quite common actually.

"What a dirty mind," Qingyi’s lips crooked with a smile. "You know what you sound like right now?"

She flipped her wrist, lips slightly curved into a sardonic smile, staring at Jiayue. A cold laugh touched her eyes.

"Like what?" Jiayue unwittingly asked.

Qingyi smirked,"A fox."

Jiayue’s she looked blankly at Qingyi, unable to comprehend. Jiang Yumeng was equally puzzled.

"Envious of something you can’t have."

Qingyi’s tone was lazy yet cold.

She knew exactly what was going through Jiayue’s mind.

Jiayue frowned upon the sight of Qingyi’s prosperity, deeming it unjust.

Jiayue looked particularly wronged: "Sister, I’m just worried about you." fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

"You hardly ever visit Jin City, how could you possibly know Kyoto?"

She looked up at Qingyi, incredulity playing on her voice.

Her eyes moistened as if on the verge of tears.

Qingyi lifted an eyebrow, "What makes you so sure that I’ve never been?"

A smirk and a pure hint of sarcasm on her lips lit her eyes up.

She visited the Lu family house once a year, staying for only two days.

So where was she for the remaining 363 days? How would Jiayue know?

"Even I’ve rarely been,"

Jiayue clutched the corner of her dress, she bit her lip and said.

Growing up, she had only been to Kyoto three times, how could Qingyi, who grew up in rural settings, ever been?

Kyoto was expensive to visit, while the Lu family was one of the most prestigious in Jin City, in Kyoto, they were nobodies.

Qingyi looked at Jiayue, a hint of a smile played on her lips. "You want to compete with me?"

She nonchalantly overturned her bag, revealing numerous receipts from the innermost pockets.

Every size, varying in length.

"Gosh, Qingyi is amazing,"

Jiang Yumeng, driven by curiosity, held up one of the receipts discarded by Qingyi.

She looked at the receipt, her eyes widened in surprise.

Kyoto, Kyoto...

She felt like she hadn’t noticed anything but the word Kyoto on the receipt.

"These are plane, subway, and train tickets."

Qingyi spread out all the tickets from the bag, speaking softly.

The pile consisted of about forty tickets of different sizes.

"Wow, is this for real?"

"The tickets are valid, my dad is in ticket checking, I have seen these."

"Oh my goodness, I’ve never been there."

"Wow, Qingyi is so cool."

"Wait wait wait, how much would all these tickets cost?"

"So unfamiliar, I haven’t seen any of these."

"I won’t admit I’m envious."

Ever since Qingyi spread out the tickets, there was a stir among the students in class 20.

They were too curious,

When they heard Jiang Yumeng’s excited words, they couldn’t resist moving closer to Qingyi.

Unbelievable,

She went so many times, it was incredible.

Jiayue was stunned, her eyes wide open, staring at Qingyi in disbelief.

She didn’t believe as she picked up one of the tickets, it was a first-class flight ticket. Her eyes glued to Qingyi as if plotting to eat her.

First-class, what concept was that?

She never travelled in that class, why should Qingyi be any different?

"When I was ten, I went to Kyoto, alone."

A grin danced on Qingyi’s lips, she said it slowly,

She emphasized, tone laden with gravitas.

She had been gifted with intelligence from a young age, learnt things faster, she was also brave; upon learning about Kyoto, she was intrigued. She deceived her grandmother, secretly booked her tickets, and left, alone.

That was her first time in Kyoto, and she believed only in such a grand city could she build her own life.

"Impossible!"

Disbelief rode strong on Jiayue’s face, how could her grandmother afford to send Qingyi to Kyoto?

"Lu Jiayue, what you believe to be impossible might be possible for others. There are many more people in this world who are much better than you. Don’t forget, you are not superior to everyone."

Qingyi casually collected the tickets, put them in her bag, and returned the bag into the drawer.

She spoke deliberately, pausing with each word.

Collecting receipts was initially out of obligation to her grandmother, and then it became a habit.

She would preserve each ticket, plane or train, to show to her grandmother, to offer her peace of mind.

"It’s impossible, where did the money come from?"

Jiayue bit her lip, she wasn’t prepared to believe.

The money Yao Meishu gave her grandmother was only just enough, how could her grandmother spare any to fund Qingyi’s expenses?

She’d instead believe Qingyi had a wealthy man to back her.
