Chapter 56: Chapter 0056: I Rob Your Grandmother

Lin Fan knew that the Serpent Gang would absolutely not let this slide.

The Hall Master had been captured by him, so the leaders of the Serpent Gang were bound to show up.

All he needed to do was wait here; there was no need to overthink things.

What he did today was quite earth-shattering.

The Serpent Gang had tyrannized Jiangdu City for so many years, and nothing like today’s events had ever happened before.

Though Lin Fan’s actions hadn’t completely broken the heavens, they had certainly plucked the tiger’s whiskers, thoroughly enraging this domineering beast.

Glancing at Zhu Hou who was glaring at him, Lin Fan had the urge to kill the guy.

Killing him might yield lots of valuable items.

But it wasn’t time yet.

He had to wait.

Thinking about Wang Zhou and the others feasting and drinking lavishly at the restaurant, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of envy. If he’d known the situation would come to this, he would’ve gone to Immortal Drunk Tower earlier, grabbed some food, and then slowly squared off with the Serpent Gang.

Jiangdu City felt a bit small after all.

With his current strength, he needed to head out and explore.

Nightfall.

This was a sleepless night.

Wang Zhou was hosting a farewell banquet for Li Zhiyong and the others at Immortal Drunk Tower. Even though he was enjoying the drinks and merriment, his mind still carried worry about the Serpent Gang’s situation.

The restaurant patrons had left long ago—they were itching to spread the news. Something this massive couldn’t possibly remain a private matter.

Deep into the night.

At the gate of the dungeon, two Government Officials tightened their clothing and squinted slightly, trying to sneak in some rest.

Suddenly.

One official noticed someone approaching from afar and snapped to attention. If they were caught napping, they’d be scolded harshly for sure.

Before long.

A shadow appeared in front of the two officials.

"This is the dungeon. Unauthorized individuals are strictly forbidden to enter," the official said dutifully, his hand resting on the hilt of his blade, ready to subdue the intruder if necessary.

The visitor halted, his face grim under the moonlight, exuding an air of arrogance that enveloped his entire being. Coldly, he announced, "I’m the Third Master of the Serpent Gang. If you don’t want to die, then get out of my way."

The two officials were taken aback.

"Damn! What an audacious guy! Does he really think this dungeon belongs to him? That he can do whatever he pleases?"

Their first impulse was to draw their weapons and capture the man on the spot—but then they suddenly processed his words: he claimed to be the Serpent Gang’s Third Master. The two of them raised their heads and took a closer look. Once they recognized him, cold sweat dripped down their backs.

Not daring to obstruct him, they shrank back timidly to the side.

To mess with a figure like him was tantamount to suicide; he could claim their lives in mere moments.

"Hmph!"

The Third Master flicked his sleeve and, with hands clasped behind his back, strode into the dungeon.

He was furious right now.

The government had taken Zhu Hou into custody and locked him in the dungeon—essentially disregarding the Serpent Gang entirely.

At this moment.

Lin Fan was leisurely enjoying some side dishes, calmly waiting. Soon, the sound of approaching footsteps could be heard in the distance.

"They’re here."

He didn’t know who the visitor was.

The Hall Masters wouldn’t risk coming, meaning only someone of significance like the leader or other high-ranking members were likely.

Zhu Hou also heard the footfalls, closing in from far to near.

He widened his eyes, and when he identified the figure, he immediately shouted, "Third Master, you’re finally here!"

At this moment, Zhu Hou laughed heartily, gloatingly casting a glance at Lin Fan. He wanted to see how the guy could handle things now.

If he dared, he could try taking down the Third Master as well.

But was such a thing possible?

Even with ten times the courage, he wouldn’t dare.

"The dungeon is an important place. Strutting in here like this—you really have no regard for the government, do you?" Lin Fan remarked nonchalantly, expecting the Serpent Gang’s Third Master to be more remarkable. But seeing him now, he felt unimpressed.

The Third Master cast a contemptuous glance at Lin Fan. To him, this mere constable was akin to an ant—beneath his notice. Originally, he didn’t even want to bother with such a trivial figure. But this pest kept jumping before the Serpent Gang, courting death.

"You little constables, I’m ordering you to release him immediately," the Third Master commanded, his demeanor befitting his position as the third-ranking powerhouse within the Serpent Gang. His very presence conveyed authority, exuding an aura of unquestionable dominance.

Wang Baoliu and the others had always feared the Serpent Gang from the depths of their hearts.

This fear had been ingrained into them by the adults since childhood.

The Serpent Gang was evil, ruthless, and under no circumstances should anyone provoke them.

If not for following Lin Fan, they might have obeyed These commands without hesitation, releasing the gang members as demanded.

However.

Their allegiance now lay with Lin Fan.

Although they feared the Serpent Gang, their loyalty to Lin Fan outweighed that fear.

Lin Fan chuckled, "Such bravado from the Third Master, giving orders to constables now."

"Hmph," the Third Master sneered. "You little nobodies. I didn’t even want to bother with you, but you’ve been living too comfortably, it seems, and insist on inviting death. Tonight, I will take him with me. As for the rest of the gang members, I expect you to serve them breakfast yourselves tomorrow morning as if you’re entertaining lords. Otherwise, you’ll suffer the consequences."

"If you don’t believe me, just wait and see."

The Third Master didn’t want to waste words with Lin Fan. He walked directly to Zhu Hou, shattered his restraints, then turned back to Lin Fan. "Deliver a message to Wang Zhou. This isn’t over between the Serpent Gang and him."

"Let’s go."

As soon as he finished speaking.

The Third Master headed towards the dungeon’s exit.

Zhu Hou pointed at Lin Fan with a smug smirk, his lips curling upward arrogantly. "Kid, don’t think Wang Zhou’s protection will allow you to strut around recklessly. You have no idea who you’ve just crossed."

"My brothers will stay here tonight, but if they’re not released by morning, not even Wang Zhou will be able to shield you."

After delivering these words, he followed quickly behind the Third Master.

Lin Fan watched their retreating figures, laughing as he set down his chopsticks. He walked over to the table where the weapons were laid, his eyes fixed on their backs.

One step!

Two steps!

Far ahead, moonlight streamed in through the corridor.

As the pair stepped into the moonlit area, Lin Fan grabbed a blade, shouted aloud, and made a bellowing claim, "Prison break in progress!"

Suddenly.

Lin Fan charged toward the exit at an astonishing speed.

Zhu Hou was chatting with the Third Master when he abruptly heard the words "Prison break in progress." His expression changed drastically.

The Third Master turned back and saw Lin Fan, that bald-headed constable, leaping into the air, aiming a direct kick at him. He roared angrily, "You brat, courting death, are you? I’ll cripple you today!"

Without hesitation.

The Third Master extended his hand, intending to catch the incoming kick and crush Lin Fan’s leg.

But when his hand clashed with Lin Fan’s kick, his face changed drastically. An overwhelming force surged through, sending him flying backward. With a thunderous crash, he hit the ground, coughing up blood.

Zhu Hou was utterly dumbfounded, as though he’d seen a ghost.

What was happening?

Had Lin Fan completely lost his mind?

Holy crap!

This guy was the Serpent Gang’s Third Master—yet one kick from Lin Fan had sent him sprawling and coughing up blood. Was Lin Fan trying to ascend to heaven?

"You..." Zhu Hou was furious, preparing to bellow indignantly, but the words died in his throat when a blade pressed against his neck.

"What’s this? A jailbreak attempt?"

"Answer me. If you dare break out, I’ll have no problem severing your head."

Lin Fan truly wanted to kill the two of them, but the timing wasn’t right yet.

"I... I..."

Zhu Hou stammered, feeling like the sky itself was collapsing. This lunatic scared him out of his wits.

Lin Fan delivered two merciless kicks to Zhu Hou’s knees, forcing him to kneel on the ground. Then he walked over to the Third Master, slapped his face, and growled disapprovingly.

"You’ve got nerves of steel, huh? Attempting a solo prison break. You must have a death wish."

"Throw them all back in lockup! Tomorrow, they’ll be paraded through the streets for public display."

"This is the price for trying to break out."

The Third Master, upon hearing this, passed out on the spot. But just before he lost consciousness, he couldn’t resist inwardly cursing, "Break your grandma’s prison."
