Chapter 129: Entertaining

"Hey, can you hear me?"

Oliver asked as the old man jumped away to assist his teammates.

"Yes, I can, Crab Hunter, the best and most handsome supreme hero of the sea," Root replied.

"He he he." Oliver chuckled. In the darkness, his lips curled into a wide smile. "Anyway, find a pack of potato chips from the kitchen and drop it in my direction. This is going to be fun." His eyes lingered over the four figures circling the flood dragon.

Although it was night, the dragon’s body and the people were shimmering with intense mana. They were not trying to hide their intentions to fight.

They both wanted to rip each other to shreds.

"Why do you need chips?"

"It’s going to be entertaining."

The flood dragon was curling its huge body in the air while the A-rankers flew up around them.

It was preparing for a big attack.

"You never saw a flood dragon before, right?" Oliver inquired, not taking his eyes off the beast or the people.

Root grabbed a giant pack of potato chips from the boat kitchen and hummed.

"Hmm...No."

"Then sit down and watch. Use the drone if you must to take a closer look."

"There are drones?"

"There is everything. Even a disco ball."

"Uh! Why?"

"Why not?"

"Sigh"

Root walked to the rear entrance and positioned the boat over Oliver. He didn’t need to stay in the pilot’s seat to control the boat, as he could send instructions directly to the flight management systems.

Pausing for a second, he opened the rear door and threw down the potato chips.

"Catch it," he added.

"Sure."

Oliver looked and waited for the potato chip bag to fall onto him.

As expected, Root had calculated the exact position and velocity at which it would reach him.

Oliver noticed the chip bag flying towards his head.

He gently caught it and opened it. Then he found a nice branch on the tree canopy and began to consume it.

"Thanks," he muttered while chomping down the chips.

Meanwhile, his eyes focused on the battlefield.

Three among the superhumans who surrounded the flood dragon were using a variety of abilities.

The first one had plant vines growing from her body, trying to wrap and immobilize the dragon.

The second one used his great speed and strength to pull it into close combat, preventing it from channeling mana to its mouth and releasing another long-range attack.

While the third, and last, shot stone shards from his palm. This person was not wearing the hood, and Oliver could recognize him.

The stone- or earth-manipulation ability user was the elder Oliver had talked to.

Meanwhile, Lin Yue, the last A-rank powerhouse of the group, was standing behind, waiting for something to happen.

"They are a well-organized group. They have a long-range damage dealer, a short-range attacker, and a controller-type superhuman. Any normal A-rank mana beast would have succumbed to them," Oliver said.

The potato chips crunching under Oliver’s teeth made a crackling sound in the earpiece microphone.

"Hmm... But the dragon is pushing them back." A drone floated down from the sky as Root’s voice spoke.

Oliver glanced at the drone and said.

"Because it’s not a random mana beast; it’s a dragon."

"Should we leave? If the dragon defeats them, its next target would be us, right?"

"You have nothing to worry about. The best vehicle can obviously outrun it."

"It’s a boat. A flying boat. And yes, it can outfly it."

The dragon cannot fly faster than the speed of sound because of its huge body. Even if it could, it wouldn’t be able to sustain that speed for long periods.

"Anyway, you have nothing to worry about. And I don’t think the battle would be that easy. These Lin family psychos are strong," Oliver added, glancing at the young lady floating nearby.

Like everyone else, she was using an artifact that allowed her to walk on air.

Oliver was a little envious.

The artifact must have cost a fortune.

Artifacts are objects found in ancient ruins or temples on a second Earth. When mana is used on them, they will react and produce an effect.

Often, it will be tools, but there can be great weapons and defensive mechanisms powered by runes on them.

Lin Yue and her teammates were using an expensive tool artifact that allows the user to fly.

’It must have cost them a fortune. But it’s worth it.’

Oliver frowned.

’I will buy a lot of artifacts in the future and equip everyone I know with them.’

Oliver lifted his nose up and glanced at the drone.

Root and Root’s father were his money-making machines. He will become richer than the Lin clan in the future.

’The Lin clan, the Oblivion guild. They are nothing in front of the regressor like me.’ He thought and scowled at the floating figure.

In the darkness of night, amidst the combat, they wouldn’t see his expression, so he didn’t hide it.

However, Root saw his changing expression.

"Lin family psychos? Do you have something against them?" He asked.

"Not yet." Oliver gave a perfunctory reply.

"What does that mean?"

A sinister grin appeared on Oliver’s face.

He was happy to know Root was interested.

"Most organizations, guilds, companies, or political parties have a mole in them. You need to understand that when I am clashing against demons, I will have to take out the mole." Oliver’s grin grew even grimmer.

"This will inevitably drive me and my guild to their gunpoint. They will try their best to defame me by employing slanderous news or questioning my character."

Oliver paused again.

"They will try to make me into public enemy number one."

"At that time, everyone will turn against me."

"So, to stop them, I would have to do many difficult things. That includes offending everything I mentioned."

"My poor guild is going to have a difficult time handling it all."

*Sigh*

Oliver had mentioned once that demons are his real enemy, and he is trying to stop an apocalyptic event. Everything made sense to Root when he included that information.

"Why do you have to take it lying down?" Root asked. "Couldn’t you fight against them through public opinion?"
