Chapter 68: Registration 4

Leon’s ability was teleportation, one of the most prized abilities in the world.

But there was one itty bitty tiny small problem with it.

He scratched his head when they asked him to show his ability.

"Ahem!" He looked around the room and said with his head drooping down. "I can’t control my ability."

"What do you mean?" The officer leading the test asked, confused.

"I can’t control my ability."

"Uh!"

The situation was special. Usually, someone with A rank potential would have perfect control over their ability. And yet, the young man before him was saying he can’t.

"Why?"

"I don’t know!" Leon replied.

"Wait a minute, what is your ability?" The officer scrolled through the info SMB had on him and asked.

Apparently, the SMB couldn’t find any info on his ability.

"My ability is teleportation. I get teleported to any place I have been to by using my ability. However, the distance is limited by the mana I have. For example, I can use 500 units of my mana to go to a place five hundred kilometers away in an instant."

What Leon said was preposterous.

500 kilometers with 500 units of mana, it was simply an incredible ability.

"You said you have no control over it, right?"

"Yes, the only caveat is that I can’t control the location to which I will teleport." Leon sighed.

This was the exact reason why he was apprehensive when they asked to demonstrate his ability.

What if he used his ability and disappeared from the room?

What would happen if he teleported into a moving truck or right in front of it?

*Gulp*

Leon swallowed hard. He was a little scared of his ability.

"Oh, I understand." The officer held his head and began to think.

It was his job to register the ability of the superhumans, he couldn’t do it half assedly.

"Anyway, you need to show that you can teleport away first. Do you have your phone with you?" The officer asked.

"Yes."

"Are you willing to give me permission to track your phone?"

"I can."

"Yes, show me your phone. I will come down there."

The officer quickly found a way to measure the full extent of his ability. So, he quickly walked out of the room he was in and into the spherical room.

"Are you going to test me this?" Leon asked.

"Yes, it is the only way."

"I get it. But I don’t think it’s safe. I could die if I teleported to somewhere dangerous."

"Ah! You could!" The officer was at a loss.

The kid before him seemed not to be lying. From the data he had, he knew that the kid didn’t even use his ability during the military training.

So, what he said could be the truth.

"You are low on mana, right? So, you won’t teleport far away, right?" He asked.

"Yes, but I still have enough mana to teleport in front of a moving truck outside the building or to the sky above. Both a truck and a fall could kill me." Leon said apprehensively.

"This..." The officer thought for a moment. "Did something like that happen in the past?"He asked.

"Yes, I once teleported into a washing machine while I was young." Leon paused. "Barely escaped." He added after a short while.

"But you must have been there for the ability to take effect, right?"

"Yes, I was there before the washing machine was placed."

"What if you drained almost all of your mana?"

"Still, I could teleport anywhere within one one-kilometer radius to any place have been to."

"Ah!" The officer scratched his head and looked to the other side of the glass panel.

But none of his fellow proctors had any new idea.

"That’s one hell of an ability." He muttered, looking a Leon.

Leon looked down in embarrassment.

"Can you take someone along when you teleport?" The officer asked the final question after considering all possible scenarios.

"No."

"It’s better to be registered as an ability-less superhuman for now. How about returning once you master your ability?" He suggested.

Leon finally nodded.

"Okay, you can leave."

Leon walked out of the testing room with half a smile.

He was happy that his potential was great, but the thing about his ability worried him slightly.

Oliver watched it in amusement. He didn’t seem as disappointed as he expected.

’Did the kid get a high potential score?’ He thought.

It didn’t really matter to him if he did, but he was slightly curious.

Meanwhile, the young master waved his hand, calling Leon towards him.

"What is your rank?" He asked with a smirk.

"D-rank," Leon replied.

"Just as I thought. You were a weakling." His smirk widened into a full-blown smile.

The young master Chen himself was a preak C rank. He looked down on those who were weaker than him.

While his growth was primarily related to the resources his family could provide, it didn’t mean he was untalented.

On the contrary, it was his talent that made him grow that fast. So, the young master was proud of himself.

"What is your potential?" He asked again.

"A-grade." Leon finally smiled and replied.

The potential grade of A was something he was proud of. He thought the young master would be just as thrilled as he was since he would be able to pay off his debt.

However, the smile on Chen’s face disappeared like a mirage.

His brows twisted into a scowl as he looked at Leon.

"Are you lying to me? How can a poor brat from nowhere have a potential grade of A?" His voice was loud.

Everyone around them heard what they were talking about.

Immediately, their attention focused on the A-grade talent, Leon.

Oliver, too, looked at it in amusement.

He should have known about all the A-rankers in the city. If Leon were an A-ranker, he should have known about him.

’Was he one of those kids who died before they could grow?’ He thought.

The future he lived in had no mention of an A-ranker named Leon.

"..." Leon stayed silent while Chen belittled him.

"What is your ability?" Young master Chen asked with a scowl. He didn’t like that someone below him had that high of a potential.

Leon hesitated, but still replied. "Teleportation."

The word sent a shockwave through Oliver’s mind.

Suddenly, a figure appeared in his mind.

’Of course, there was no one with an A-grade talent named Leon. He is an S ranker!’ Oliver looked to the side with renewed interest.

’This is cool. I never thought I would meet a fellow villain.’
