Chapter 69: Registration 5

Leon was an S-ranked villain.

Oliver, who recognised him, felt his interest rejuvenated.

Considering the total number of S-rankers in the Federation, meeting this many S-rankers in a city was rare.

Yet he had killed one future S ranker, allied with another, met one, and now was seeing another.

"You shouldn’t lie." Young master Chen said, his voice containing a hint of envy.

"I am not lying," Leon replied. His ability was indeed teleportation.

While their conversation continued, Oliver scanned his mind for all his information on Leon.

Like Oliver, Leon also had a backstory of being forced into being a villain. However, unlike him, he failed to take revenge and died a dog’s death.

Why?

Because he was a failure who didn’t know who his real enemy was.

By the time Oliver was in his prime, Leon had died. So, there was no interaction between them. Still, he knew about him and what happened to him.

Leon was a student who was accepted into the Hero Academy. But if his memory serves right, Chen will threaten to stop funding his sister’s treatment and force him to not attend the academy.

Why?

Because, like Leon, Chen was also an A-grade talent.

He thought his image would worsen when they attended the academy together. He wanted to bathe in the glory of being one of the most talented people to attend the Hero Academy from Dragon City.

Leon was just an eyesore to him. So, he wanted to eliminate him from the pool of competition.

But that was not the reason that Leon became a villain.

He was happy not to attend the academy if he could get the money for his sister’s treatment.

After all, an A-grade talent was welcomed everywhere. He didn’t have to attend the Hero Academy to become successful. If he just bears with it for a few more months, he could become a licensed hunter, join guilds, or even work for the military to make money.

He would have never become a villain if his life had taken that path.

However, he forgot a simple fact when he made a deal with Chen.

Evil people didn’t need a reason to do evil things.

While promises would be kept between two honorable people, he overestimated Chen’s honour.

The young master Chen was never a trustworthy person. After the entrance test and the admission to the Hero Academy was over, he would send assassins to kill both Leon and his sister to cover up his misdeeds.

Leon would survive the assassination attempt because of his teleportation ability. But his unfortunate sister would die in her hospital bed, not knowing she was being killed.

This incident will act as a trigger that makes Leon into a villain Oliver knew.

’But the funny thing was that he joined the demons to gain strength for his revenge and antagonized the entire heroes’ association in the process.’ Oliver gave a pitiful look at Leon, who was in front of him.

’He would be betrayed and later suffer the loss of a family member. Then he will be used by demons and thrown away like trash.’

Leon was indeed pitiful.

Oliver found it easy to sympathise with him.

However, he had no empathy for him.

Those who do evil deeds have to be ready to go to hell.

He was ready to go to hell after his death. So, he expected the same from others.

Oliver thought, looking at the duo still talking, ’If he had avoided the temptation of the demons and focused on killing his enemies, he wouldn’t have made this many enemies and would have received a better death.’

’Anyway, all of that doesn’t matter.’ Oliver smiled. ’The real question is, how should I use this conflict to my advantage?’

He didn’t really care about the death of Leon’s sister or the misfortune he suffered.

There were a lot of miserable people in the world. And saving them all was an impossible goal.

The human society was designed in a way that, at the bottom, there would always be people who suffer.

For now, he was not capable of rewriting how society works.

’Should I sow the seed and wait?’ Oliver asked himself. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

If he really wanted to, he could save Leon and his sister.

Getting on the good books of a future S-rank was a good idea. Maybe it would help him in the future.

An S-ranker who could fight with him against the demons was a good deal.

’As long as his sister is alive, he will be on the side of the humans. Just like me.’ Oliver thought.

By that time, it was Oliver’s turn to go into the testing area.

Chen was still sitting in the waiting area, asking for details from Leon while laughing occasionally. He seemed to have found out about Leon’s defective ability.

Oliver sighed in relief and walked into the testing area.

The test was simple, and Oliver knew exactly what they would do. So, he simply followed their directions and did exactly what he was told.

He converted blood to mana when his mana was being measured and got a rank of D.

And later, when his potential was being measured, he got a similar grade.

With both rank and potential at D, Oliver was considered untalented and was soon ignored by the testing officer.

They didn’t give him the respect they gave to Leon and asked him to demonstrate the use of his ability.

Oliver only showed his ability to store and release a small amount of blood and a slightly increased healing rate before exiting.

Like that, he became a registered superhuman.

Now, he could join the Hunter Association and Hero Union without any problem. By doing so, it would become much easier for him to travel to other cities, join guilds, hunt on Second Earth, and do business.

When he came out of the testing room, he saw Leon sitting near Chen with his eyes staring at the ground. He was not as excited as he was a couple of minutes ago.

’Chen must have said something that killed his mood.’ Oliver thought.

After Oliver left the testing room, Chen stood and walked into it.

While they passed each other, he glared at Oliver.

*Smirk*

Oliver returned a relaxed smile just to make him angry.
