Blood Nemesis-Chapter 70: Sow Seed
Chapter 70: Sow Seed
"Are you leaving?" Oliver moved closer to Leon and asked.
A couple of minutes ago, Oliver had ignored Leon. So, the sudden question surprised him.
"Ah!"
"I asked if you are leaving."
"Not yet, I have to wait for..."
"Don’t." Oliver immediately cut him off. "Chen or whatever that guy’s name is gives a bad vibe. It would be better if you avoided him. You are an A-grade talent, right? You don’t need to act so subservient."
Oliver used his chance to split them up.
Leon still looked confused as he looked at Oliver.
"I saw you browsing through the Hero Union brochure. You want to be a hero, right?" Oliver sat next to him and asked.
"Yes."
"Then you need to act like one."
"How! Wait a minute. Why are you telling me this? I thought you didn’t like speaking." Leon finally raised his eyes, fixated on the ground, and looked Oliver in the eyes.
This time, he didn’t break his gaze.
"Because you are an A-grade talent." Oliver gave an honest reply.
He thought it was the best approach considering the situation.
"The attitude changed quickly." Leon raised his eyebrow. freeweɓnovel.cøm
"This is what you call privilege," Oliver replied. "In the future, you will be treated better just because of your potential. Those who looked down on you will praise you, and those who rejected you will try to do everything you want to curry favors from you. This is normal." He said blandly.
"What is your name?" Leon asked.
"Oliver."
"Oliver, you talk like someone who has experience. What is your rank and potential?"
"Both D."
"Both?"
"That is..."
"What?"
"Ah! Nothing." Leon swallowed the words.
Who was he to judge the potential of others?
"Hey, you thought I was weak, right?" Oliver asked with a smile.
"I..."
"It doesn’t matter. I will be judged my whole, and I am prepared to be judged. But are you?"
"Why do you ask that?"
"If you want to be a hero, you need to be comfortable being judged by everyone. It will not be easy to put all your actions under public scrutiny."
"Are you trying to talk me out of being a hero?"
"Not at all. I was just saying that it would be better if you could ignore the bad attention you are receiving. For example, the Chen who trapped you in debt." Oliver twisted his words and finally poked the real issue.
For the past few seconds, Oliver spoke nicely to Leon to relax his nerves.
Usually, people were talkative. If you give the right response and ask a few questions, they will be more than willing to answer everything.
The process might be a little tedious for the one who is aware, but the results are wonderful.
Within a few minutes, you will befriend your target and gather information.
He learned this technique from his dear friend Kai, the assassin.
Oliver used this technique to quickly get on the good side of Leon.
"How did you..." Leon wondered how Oliver could have learned about his debt.
"Well, you were talking too loudly and I overheard your conversation."
"Oh! Then you must know that I can’t leave as I want, right?"
"How much is it?" Oliver moved on to the next step. He wanted to know the specifics to find a solution.
"Why should I tell you about it?"
Oliver smiled at the response and said, "If it’s a money problem, I might be able to help you. You see, I might not look like it, but I am someone great." Oliver raised his nose.
His tone was unserious, but he meant it when he said it.
"So, how much is it?"
"Three hundred and forty thousand creds."
"Ah!" Oliver was surprised.
"What, you don’t think you can help me now?" Leon leaned on his chair and relaxed his body.
He didn’t know who Oliver was or why he was trying to help him. But he wanted to take the chance and find a way to escape from Chen’s influence.
"Are you surprised?" He asked.
"Yeah, I am," Oliver said.
Leon was disappointed by the answer. His eyes drooped down as he once again gazed at the floor.
"It’s less than what I expected."
However, the next few words that came out of Oliver’s mouth captured his attention once again.
"He was treating you like a slave. And here I was thinking the debt would be in millions of creds, and yet it was only a couple of hundred thousand creds. It was indeed surprising."
Three hundred thousand was a small amount of money for the current Oliver. Considering it as an investment, he was more than willing to part with it.
He smiled, looked at Leon, and asked, "Do you want to clear the debt and break away from him?"
"You can?" Leon was slightly excited. His voice trembled when he asked.
His life was not the same since he fell into debt. If possible, he wanted to live differently. But, what would be the cost?
Just like Chen, Oliver was also not running a charity.
What will be the price he would have to pay to get the benefit?
He looked cautiously at the smiling face of Oliver and thought.
"Of course I can." Oliver began to speak, "Three hundred thousand might be a lot to you in your current state, but it wouldn’t come anywhere close to what an A-ranker could earn in his lifetime.
So, It would be a worthy investment. The benefit of working for me is that I would provide you all the money you need until you become a professional, but in return, you would provide me five times the amount I spent on you. Can you agree to it?"
"Five times the amount?" Leon asked.
"Nothing is free in this world. It doesn’t matter if it was ten or five times; you would only have to return the money according to your expenditure. Considering everything else, it is a good offer." Oliver said and paused, then he added. "With me as the debtor, you wouldn’t have to worry about the constant mental torture the other guy is putting you through."
Overall, it was a good deal.
Oliver didn’t have to add the clause about repayment because it was nothing to him. However, he did so to gain trust.
Most people were distrustful of free things.
He didn’t want to offer his service for free and scare away Leon.
Like that, Oliver convinced Leon to leave together, before Chen could come out after testing his ability.
