Blood Nemesis-Chapter 72: Sister 2
Chapter 72: Sister 2
Soon, they reached the room where Leon’s sister was lying.
It was a small room with nothing except a table, a bed, and two chairs. freёwebnoѵel.com
The person on the bed was connected to a monitoring device.
"Your sister is pretty," Oliver said, looking at her.
Meanwhile, Leon looked at him weirdly.
"I mean. Looking at her current situation, you won’t think she was injured." Oliver quickly corrected.
The person on the bed was wearing a white hospital gown and was sleeping peacefully. The gentle rays of the morning sun were shining through the window, lighting up her perfectly symmetrical face.
Among the people he had seen since regressing, Leon’s sister was indeed the prettiest. If she wished, she could have become a celebrity with a face like that.
Oliver was momentarily surprised by her beauty. That was why he blurted out his honest thoughts.
"She was injured. Now, she is fine except that she can’t wake up." Leon muttered and sat on a chair near his sister.
"When our parents passed away, she was sixteen and I was ten." Leon choked, looking at his sister’s face.
The sadness he hid in his heart was rushing out as droplets of tears. He didn’t want to show his pathetic self to Oliver, but tears flowed out uncontrollably.
The moment of respite he received when his potential was revealed seemed to have resulted in the situation.
"From then on, she worked day and night to bring me up. Never did she complain, not even once, when she had to suffer through it alone."
Leon’s voice cracked when he told his story to Oliver.
Oliver pitied the kid. And he respected his older sister.
"If I were not there, she could have gone to college."
"If I were not there, she could have become a hero like she wanted."
"If I were not there, she could have lived a happy life."
Leon blamed himself because of his inability to help his sister.
"Did you know she had B rank potential?" He looked at Oliver and said.
"B-rank."
"It’s B-rank." He wiped away his tears.
"If she were given a little more time and a peace of mind, she would have become someone great," Leon said, disappointed at himself.
"Shut up fucker." Suddenly, he heard words he never expected to hear in that situation.
Oliver’s voice startled Leon.
When he raised his eyes to look at Oliver, he saw someone filled with anger and frustration.
"Shut the fuck up," Oliver said again.
"Do you really think she was neither great nor happy?" He asked in a menacing tone.
"Uh!" Leon couldn’t understand what was happening.
For some reason, even though he was stronger, he felt something tightening around his neck.
His breath became shortened, and he felt slightly lightheaded.
Everything he felt was not real.
But even then, he couldn’t ignore it.
"What do you think a hero is?" Oliver took a step closer and asked.
"Hero?"
"Yes, A hero." His gaze was unwavering.
"Someone who helps someone else without asking for anything in return." Leon gulped nervously and replied.
For some reason, he felt that he had to do his utmost to give a correct answer to Oliver’s question.
So, he gave the instinctual answer that came to his mind without making it more complicated.
"Did she ask for something in return from you?" Oliver asked again.
Leon shook his head.
"Doesn’t that mean she is a hero, at least for you?"
"..." Leon nodded.
"And who the fuck are you to judge if she was happy or not?"
"Ah!" Leon didn’t have any answer for that.
"So, shut up and do what you can instead of wallowing in self-pity." Oliver paused.
Then he sighed and took a deep breath.
"This happened to be a hospital room. If it were somewhere else, I would have beaten some sense into the thick skull of yours."
Oliver could now see why demons could easily manipulate Leon.
A person who is drowned in sorrow is the easiest to control. They hate themselves just as much as they hate everything else.
People like that were tunnel-visioned and will forget to see the big picture.
Oliver couldn’t allow history to repeat itself.
Leon was an investment.
He wanted him to grow strong enough to help him. Not the other way around.
"Your life is a blessing. Treat it like that and don’t forget to be grateful." Oliver smacked Leon’s head and said.
At that exact time, a young nurse came into the room.
Seeing the crying Leon and Oliver’s hands hovering above his head, she instantly misunderstood the situation.
"What are you doing?" She raised her voice and asked.
"This is a hospital. You can’t do this here." She charged at Oliver and said.
Oliver took a step back.
Fortunately, Leon stepped forward and stopped her from hitting Oliver.
"Sister Clara, stop." He said and held her hand.
"Is he the person who was harassing you? The young master Chen you spoke of?" She was still angry.
"No, this is someone else. He is a friend."
"Are you sure?" She glared at Oliver and asked.
"Yes, his name is Oliver. He is a friend I made during today’s test."
"Ah!" When the test was mentioned, Clara stopped and asked excitedly, "What is your rank and potential?"
Clara was Leon’s sister, Luna’s friend.
She recently joined the hospital as a nurse and was keeping a close eye on the situation of her friend.
"I am D rank with A grade potential." Leon wiped his face and said with a smile.
"That’s great. That’s really great." Clara lifted her hand to give a high-five.
The same hand that was about to smack Oliver on the face.
For the next couple of seconds, the duo seemingly forgot about Oliver and talked. Oliver leaned back onto a wall and waited patiently.
Finally, after a while, Clara turned to him and apologised.
"Sorry for misunderstanding you. I thought you were bullying him." Clara gave a small bow while speaking.
"It’s okay." Oliver, who would have smacked back without hesitation, without caring she was a woman, accepted the apology magnanimously.
Currently, he was keeping his image of a good person. So, he couldn’t scold her even if he wanted to.
"Anyway, Leon. Let’s keep in touch. I will leave for now." Oliver said and went out of the room.
He didn’t want to talk anymore since an unfamiliar person was in the room.
Besides that, he had to register at the Hero Union and the Hunter Association. The repayment of debt had to wait until he was done with that.
Oliver promptly left the hospital compound to do his stuff.
