Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 211: Eagle Rescue
Moments before Kael absorbed Noel's heavenly beacon.
At the Paradise Beach, the settlement.
Stella was talking to two high-level rabbits about the state of the settlement. The three of them sat cross-legged and naked on the floor within one of the larger bone huts.
"Lady Stella, a lot of these creatures have been coming into the settlement lately, and some of them keep on bringing rabbit meat as tax," One of the rabbits, a green-furred rabbit with a single curved horn on his head, spoke with an angry expression.
Stella sighed, the frown on her face deepening. For the past two days now, she has been frowning more frequently than usual.
There had been a sudden influx of creatures wanting to come under the protection of the settlement, most of them being wolves.
There were two problems at hand, the first these foreign creatures kept bringing rabbit corpses as taxes to enter the settlement.
This wasn't a problem for most creatures, but for Stella and her rabbit kind, this was a very disturbing thing.
It couldn't be helped, rabbits were the most common and the easiest prey to catch for meat hunters in this area.
Stella didn't know if she was to collect the rabbit meat and allow the creatures to enter or just turn them away so that they could go hunt something else.
She was trying to build a world where the food chain was overturned, where rabbits weren't seen as a source of food, but it was proving harder than she expected.
She came to the shocking realization that the only way to free her rabbit race from the curse of being standard prey was to wipe out every meat eater.
A bold action that she was not sure she could take.
She was not sure if her current power level was sufficient for that kind of goal. Maybe if she could evolve one more time, she could create a rabbit utopia.
The second issue was that all these new creatures seemed to be running away from something and the real reason they ended up coming to the settlement was because it was the only place that could protect them from what was coming.
What was coming?
Stella had no idea.
But preparations were already being made. Those foreign creatures would be camped outside the settlement, for now, they would serve as cannon fodder in case anything attacked, meat shield basically.
Meanwhile, in another hut.
This bone hut was closely guarded by the 'employed' wolves and bears of Stella.
Within this hut, Eidel and Ruda sat in silence in their humanoid forms.
Eidel had her head lowered and her eyes closed with her red hair cascading over the left side of her face. She had her back resting on the wall and her arms folded against her exposed blossom. Her two tails rested by her left side, twitching slightly as though she was about to move.
Ruda on the other hand was not so calm.
"Why is everything so calm?" She asked no one in particular.
Her index finger which was decorated by a long curved claw tapped ceaselessly on the wall, expressing her annoyance.
Since Kael had left them here because they could not travel by sea, Stella had kept them within this enclosed hut.
Day and night, they were guarded by different wolves or bears, and not allowed to take a step outside.
They had also not eaten since then but that was tolerable because of their power level.
Until today.
Eidel's eyes snapped open, crimson flames burning within them.
"Skybaud," She said to Ediel while standing.
"Finally," Eidel said excitedly as purple electricity blitzed around her body.
Her short pink hair shot up and down, showing her excitement.
…
Above the beach settlement, beneath the clouds, dozens of eagles circled the sky.
Their cold eyes were trained in the settlement below, their exceptional vision allowed them to see the creatures in clear detail.
Among the eagles, one of them was a Spirit Eagle. His eyes were closed as he concentrated on keeping the telepathic channel between multiple parties stable.
Skybaud, the leader of the specialized caste, Avian Intel, was also among this squad of eagles.
His piercing yellowish-gold eyes locked onto one of the bone huts. A particular bone hut that had a few bears and wolves patrolling.
"They're here," He said to the rest of the eagles, "Let's move,"
With that, he flapped his large wings once, then tucked them. This action caused him to fall directly toward the settlement.
The rest of the eagles followed suit, diving down with their curved beaks pointed at different parts of the settlement.
"What's that?" A flamingo said as he looked up at the rapidly approaching figures.
"Eagles?" An owl that was perched on the roof of a bone hut questioned, its big eyes getting bigger the closer the eagles got to the ground.
These were birds with good eyesight, it was natural for them to see the eagles this quickly in broad daylight.
The land dwellers who seldom looked up were not so lucky.
*BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!*
More than thirty bone huts exploded once the eagles struck. One wolf was going about his day when razor-sharp metal talons slammed down on his neck and sank into his throat.
Before he could react, the razor-winged eagle flapped his wings, ascending to the sky and tearing out the back of his neck along with a bit of his spine.
The wolf collapsed into a pool of his own blood, falling into the embrace 9f death soon after.
The surprise attack had caught everyone off guard. There were more than one thousand bone huts in the whole settlement so thirty being destroyed didn't do much damage overall.
But this attack was specific and not meant to be drawn into a full-on battle.
*BOOM!*
One of the bone huts exploded as a pillar of fire and electricity erupted from within.
The wolves and bears guarding the hut were caught in the exposure and suffered severe burns with some of them dying immediately.
Eidel and Ruda rushed out from the inferno and destruction, their limbs moving fast as they ran toward the nearest border of the settlement.
"Lady Stella! Eagles are attacking!" Someone shouted from outside the bone hut Stella was in.
"What?" Her eyes widened. She activated the runes on her body and rushed out of the hut, followed by her two rabbit advisors.
The muscles on her legs, her thighs, they bulged as she crouched down and hopped high into the air. Her long rabbit ears flapped behind her head as she rushed in the direction of the commotion.
It was at this time that she saw that particular bone hut explode into flames. The figures of Eidel and Ruda caught her gaze, her brain was quick to conclude.
Her jump had finally reached its climax and she began to fall down. The runes all over her body glowed brightly with increasing intensity.
The soles of her feet also glowed as a blueish-green rune circle appeared under her feet.
Then she landed.
*BOOM!*
It was like the whole settlement had been hit by a mini earthquake. The water that was washing up the shore was pushed back and the gigantic ribs rattled in their positions.
Magic runes appeared on the walls of many bone huts, coming under Stella's control.
She released all her magic energy into the ground and into the bone huts.
These huts underwent minor modifications on the spot, circular wooden barrels rolled out of their roofs and aimed at Eidel, Ruda, and the dozens of eagles causing pandemonium.
To think that Stella had converted a part of the settlement into a full defensive formation.
Surely, she was prepared.
While the sandy ground trembled from Stella's stomp, the makeshift sentry guns had begun to shoot out projectiles.
Teeth, that's what these wanna-be turrets shot as projectiles.
Wolf fangs, rabbit teeth, and bear fangs, acted as bullets.
Thankfully, Stella did not understand the complete principles to make these things. She could only improvise, causing the makeshift turrets to be flawed in their bullet speed area.
Even then, these teeth projectiles moved relatively fast enough to hit some eagles.
As soon as they started shooting, five eagles were taken down and a few more were injured.
*CLINK CLINK CLINK!*
The sound of teeth bouncing off metal resounded as one of the strongest Metal Eagles among them used his wings to block the projectiles.
His wings, which were covered with thin and sturdy razor-sharp wings glinted under the sunlight.
Just when he was getting overwhelmed by the teeth projectiles coming from two different huts, Skybaud flew past him and smashed head-first into one of these turret huts.
A strong gust of wind followed behind Skybaud, destroying all the huts beside and in front of him.
"Protective formation around their highnesses, now!" He shouted before flapping his wings and shooting toward the next turret hut.
Unfortunately, Stella took notice of him, and his bravado was not appreciated by her at all.
The makeshift turrets focused fire on Skybaud, overwhelming him from all sides. As expected, he was not able to defend against it and soon had his body pierced through by multiple flying teeth.
