Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 212: Beach Settlement, Surrounded
Skybaud crashed low into another turret hut, his wings were spread out, sweeping into the walls and bringing the whole construct crashing down on him.
His second in command, Condra, the Metal Eagle with metallic feathers on his wings, saw this and hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to go save Skybaud or direct the remaining Eagles to protect.
"That's one of them!" A white fox shouted to his colleagues as he saw Condra standing amidst the rubble.
Condra turned his head slightly to glance at the white fox and the other foxes following him as they ran over.
This white fox reminded him of a certain white fox back in the kingdom that had been assassinated.
Ken, that had been his name, he was a really nice fox.
Condra waved his wing in the direction of the incoming foxes without looking. The sharp metal feathers on his wing detached and shot out at the foxes.
The sounds of metal piercing flesh filled the area as all the foxes collapsed to the ground. All of them had been pierced by the flying metal feathers.
Condra glanced at Skybaud once again, then at the pool of blood forming underneath him.
He was reminded of the power above him and all the eagles. Condra never knew that fates worse than death existed until he met beings like Kurse and N'bayé.
This type of mission had to be done by airborne creatures, if not, Condra who was mostly used to surveillance missions had no reason to be here.
But it seemed the authorities above were considering some restructuring, and this was showing in the type of missions the Avian Intel was getting these days.
*Sigh*
He flapped his wings, propelling himself into the sky. The feathers that had skewered those foxes shivered before flying back and arranging themselves in his wings.
"Protective formation around their highnesses, now!" Condra declared into the telepathic channel.
The remaining eagles reacted swiftly, dodging through the hail of teeth bullets and flying toward the running lionesses.
Eidel and Ruda ran fast, using the bone huts as cover to evade the teeth projectiles.
Just as commanded, the dozens of eagles came over to escort them as they ran. The winged bodyguards circled around them, using their aerial mobility to deal with any incoming attack to them.
"Where's Skybaud?" Eidel asked as she darted to the right just in time to dodge a wolf fang that would have holed through her left front limb.
Stella's intention was to cripple them and make it impossible for them to escape.
"He's down, your highness, I don't know if he's still alive," Conrad said while blocking the claws of a bear.
"If he's alive, he won't survive for long," Ruda said, jumping down from the roof of a bone hut and speeding off, leaving a purple electricity trail behind her.
The teeth projectiles were not as effective as actual bullets shot from actual guns, but they managed to take down a lot of eagles.
Even then, Eidel and Ruda made it to the border of the settlement, crossing the demarcation
of gigantic bones into the outside world and running into the forest under the protection of their winged bodyguards.
Stella stared dumbfounded, unsure of how to react. By now, the mini earthquake she caused had seized and most of the creatures in the settlement were now knowing the cause of the commotion.
Everything had happened very fast, from the descent of the eagles to the two lionesses escaping past the border, it had barely been over six minutes.
"Those eagles…" One of the flamingos stammered as he looked at the fallen body of Skybaud under the bone and dirt rubble.
"We need to get out of here," Another flamingo said with fear.
A few of these flamingos had met Skybaud before or his proxies during their journey here.
Although it was merely a casual meeting that offered to recruit them into the folds of the kingdom, it was enough for them to see a glimpse of the kind of power the nameless kingdom possessed.
The Avian Intel never hid these things, they actively boasted about it and yw powers backing them whenever they wanted to recruit.
Now, Skybaud, the leader of the Avian Intel, was seemingly dead. And he died within their settlement.
Without waiting for any word of confirmation, one flamingo rose to the sky, intending to go very far away from this place.
Then another, followed by a few more.
Close to thirty flamingos rose to the sky, but before they could ascend more than twenty meters to the sky…
*RATATATATA*
Hails of teeth spread like a blanket over the sky, reaching every one of the flamingo deserters.
Pink feathers scattered everywhere as the flamingos were shot down from the sky, all of them.
Stella stood on the roof of one of the turret huts, looking down at all of them coldly with her bunny ears pointed to the sky.
"No one comes in, no one leaves. This settlement is now in lockdown,"
At the fall of her sentences, all the rabbits that had been in standby, both weak and strong, stood at attention like obedient soldiers.
Stella hoped that by putting the whole settlement on lockdown, it would force these wild beasts to fight.
She already guessed that Eidel and Ruda were related to the disturbance and the increased state at which forest creatures wanted to enter the settlement.
'Did that Kael return already?' She wondered to herself.
What power was this that allowed him to have rescue eagles for his lionesses? No matter how she racked her brain about it, she couldn't understand.
After all, she had spent most of her time in the settlement, trying to push an agenda to protect her rabbits.
She was so reserved and secluded that despite the temptation and rumors of the rumors about the treasure at the sea, she still didn't go.
Instead, she 'manipulated' Kael to leave his consorts behind so that he could exchange the treasure he gets for them. At least, to her, she thinks she successfully manipulated Kael. freēwēbnovel.com
How pitiful.
Stella stared at Skybaud's fallen body, her ears were exceptional and she could literally hear the heartbeat of most of the creatures far away from her.
But she couldn't hear anything from Skybaud.
His eagle was dead.
'With those two lionesses gone, there's no need to hold back when attacking us,' She reasoned.
'And with this eagle's death…' It was already certain that an attack was coming.
It was at this time that she dearly wished for Zed, Zod, and Aeon to be present. Even though she disliked them for their diet orientation, she needed their strength to protect the paradise beach settlement.
As for Harath, that wild pig was as unreliable just as he was powerful.
Stella and hw whole settlement waited till dawn arrived, yet no attack came.
Most of the creatures had decided to go about their day, perhaps it was just a one time thing.
None of them realized that Eidel and Ruda had been evacuated so that they wouldn't be caught in the destruction planned for the settlement.
The beach settlement had its back facing the sea, its acknowledged front was facing the forest while the left and right sides were just extensions of the beach.
*AWOOOOOOO!...*
The deep and scary howl of a wolf spread from the forest, the vibrations bouncing off the
trees and reaching the ears of the creatures in the settlement.
Stella's body tensed, her thick and muscular laps tightening as she prepared herself.
Her gaze pierced the trees and the darkness behind them. The setting sun was reflected in her big eyes as well as the strange objects that were now flying over from the distance.
*AWOOOOOOO!*
Another wolf howl, deeper and more menacing that the first, came from the right side of the settlement.
Stella's head snapped to the right, a cold sensation going down her spine as a chilling conclusion settled in her mind.
Before she could rationalize her thoughts and chalk it down to an impossibility, another sound reached her sensitive ears, this time from the left side of the settlement.
*MEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAH!*
The bleats of a powerful goat, as funny as it sounded, echoed from the left side of the settlement.
It would have been something to laugh about if that goat did not just signify that the whole settlement was surrounded.
The scale of this attack and the preparedness of the enemy shocked Stella, she found it hard to keep a calm expression.
'Should I escape,' That thought came to her mind. She could abandon the settlement, she could abandon the rabbits here, no one would be able to stop her.
All she had to do was force her way through the entrapment.
But Harath was still quiet, that fat pig was yet to react to all that had happened, this frustrated her.
"Hello," A voice Stella had never heard before came from behind, interrupting her thoughts.
Stella's runes flared and she turned around to see a humanoid woman with a shaved head and runes decorating her body.
The humanoid woman glanced at Stella indifferently, red runes rotating within her eyes, "You must be the Stella my pride sisters told me about,"
