Chapter 111: 110. Peevish (2)

Roan brought his fists up while I stood calmly with my hands in my pockets.

"Why don’t you attack?" He asked and I shrugged my shoulders.

"I was going to give you that chance."

"Are you looking down at me?" He asked and I sighed.

"Fine, I’ll attack first."

Roan smirked as he got into a defensive stance and I moved from my spot. His eyes went wide for a second as I stopped in front of him my leg already in motion as I swung it. He barely avoided my roundhouse kick as he jumped back, I swung my foot again aiming a high kick but he threw his head back dodging again.

Roan threw his fist out and I tilted my head avoiding it before I swung my knee digging it right into his side making him grunt. I stepped back giving him time to catch his breath but he pounced right in making me jump back before I threw a side kick making him stumble away.

His face was already red with the blood rush and I could see him starting to realise the difference between our strengths.

I had to hold back as much as I could, this fight may seem like it was only a spar but for Roan he was fighting a person whose body was as strong as diamond and it would continue growing stronger.

Roan’s fists came showering down on me and I kept stepping back avoiding each of them before I swung my foot again for a head kick and he blocked it regardless, he still grunted in pain.

I used this opportunity to kick him straight in the abdomen but I guess I failed to hold back to a certain degree as he flew at an insane speed and landed on the ground coughing and wheezing.

"Wha-What the hell... Why-" he coughed, "are you using magic?"

"I’m not." I said.

"Liar." He slowly pushed himself to his feet.

"Round one ends. Winner of the round is Master Ocean." Enora announced making the audience cheer.

Roan spat out blood and I felt a little bad, I might have broken his ribs or something.

"Why don’t you use your fists? I told you it would be a hand-to-hand combat." He said and I sighed.

"Have it your way then." I pulled my hands off my pockets and stood in my spot.

"Round two begin!"

Roan attacked first this time, he came with a series of mixed attacks which I didn’t find hard to avoid. I kept dodging them with ease until he threw his fist right at my face and I grabbed it.

I prepared my fist and held back my strength before I threw my fist into his abdomen making him slide away by a few feet. He coughed out blood again and I sighed.

I knew fighting wasn’t going to help with my nerves, I wouldn’t feel fine unless I had the information.

Roan came at me again and I avoided his attacks again seeing the blood over his mouth and I let him land a few hits on me.

Still, it was impossible for me to take any damage because of my Dragon’s strength.

He changed his fighting style and came at me even more agressively, still his attacks weren’t mindless, he was fighting seriously now.

I couldn’t possibly be serious in any fight unless I wanted to destroy the city.

His attacks were faster now and landed on my body yet, getting no damage it was starting to irk him.

He must be wondering why I wasn’t getting hurt, while he was bloodied right after my single attack.

"You... What kind of body is that?" He heaved as he stepped back.

"It’s getting boring." I mumbled.

I was starting to lose interest so, I moved in with the speed that he couldn’t discern and swung my foot executing a successful headkick which made him fly off before landing on the ground. He didn’t move after that.

"Whoa... Is he dead?"

"He must be."

"The fight ends, Master Ocean is the winner." Enora announced and I walked up to Roan’s bloodied unconscious form.

I casted the healing spell to heal the grave internal injuries before I stood up and noticed Lyall who had appeared just a few seconds ago.

I walked up to him and he spoke up, "We have the complete report, Master."

"All right."

I nodded before I started walking back inside the mansion with Lyall in tow.

We returned to my study and I took a seat looking at Lyall who placed the bundle of papers in front of me.

I checked through the papers and read everything which made me frown and an icy coldness to settle in my bones.

This incident revolved around the boy named Luke Clive who belonged to a small aristocratic family of the countryside. He was quite an amazing student who scored high grades and was almost the same level as Rune since they were in the same class.

The two quickly became friends and would usually hang out but since the last two months, Luke was suddenly very stressed out. He was studying but his grades were consistently dropping, he claimed to write well in exams but the professors denied the fact saying that his answers were wrong and that half of his paper was blank.

He had barely passed the exams after scoring the second highest once. Rune and the others who knew Luke also knew that he wasn’t the type to flunk his exams. He was smart and hardworking but his scores were descending regardless.

He couldn’t know why so, he kept meeting with the professors, the ones who checked his papers and also the Headmaster several times but to no avail.

Soon the rumors started spreading that Luke was trying to bribe the professors to increase his scores and the other kids started to bully him.

The bullying became severe when Luke was one day found badly beaten behind the school’s dorm building. Rune was extremely disturbed by this incident and decided to do something about it.

He wrote a petition to bring justice to Luke, a few of his friends tagged along for his cause. They tried to investigate it on their own but they couldn’t find anything, the school administration didn’t let him have a look at the exam papers or even at the records of the scores.

Rune and his friends were trying everything they could but since what they were doing went against the professors of high ranking, it started a kind of a cold war against them. The other students started shunning them and even the professors started to behave badly with them.

Resulting for the troubles to rise for them. Luke had to return home since he wasn’t able to cope with all the abuse anymore and Rune and his friends decided to take the long leave too to help him.

They were trying their best to dig something up but since their powers were limited they couldn’t find anything except for the answer that someone from a high position was influencing the scores of the students and that Luke wasn’t the first person to be suffering from this.

There were several such boys who had to leave Eden because of such incidents and nobody cared about it before.

Rune was continuously meeting up with those students who had gone through this in the past and had been trying to find out about who exactly was behind it but none of them was willing to tell him anything.

"We have all the evidence related to this incident including those who could provide testimonies." Lyall informed me and I chuckled feeling the sense of familiarity with this certain incident as it was quite common in my past life.

There was the list of the victims and also of the corrupt people who worked in the administrative as well as the education faculties, including the root cause of this corruption in Eden.

"What shall we do, Master?" Lyall asked and I leaned back in my seat.

"Nothing."

"Pardon?"

"We have to wait till next week before we take this bastard off." I said.

"I understand." Lyall bowed and I sighed.

My brother had been working so hard to try to help his friend and I couldn’t help but feel proud of him.

"He’s really something." I smiled.

"Pardon, who?" Lyall asked and I shook my head.

I didn’t return to the Aurelius mansion until the dinner time and found Rune still looking distressed.

I didn’t talk to him as he seemed busy going in and out of the mansion.

"I wonder when he will be able to relax." Dad said as we stood in front of the window watching Rune’s carriage leave.

"In around four days." I answered and Dad looked at me.

"Have you already found out what he’s troubled with?" I nodded.

"But he doesn’t want my help. He said I should stay out of it and that he could solve it on his own."

"Is it a serious matter?" Dad asked and I crossed my arms at my chest.

"Yes,"

"Then, are you really not going to help him?"

"Not until the time limit I’ve given him ends. Till then, I can suffice by feeling proud of him for doing what he’s doing."
