The Kingmaker System-Chapter 112 - 111. Peevish (3)
Chapter 112: 111. Peevish (3)
There were only two more days before the time limit that I was bound by ended.
I was keeping an eye on every progress that Rune made, he was trying very hard but because his influence and power was limited he couldn’t get anything more than he already had. He had no choice but to keep on going to the previous victims to the convince them to give him some sort of evidence or information but they didn’t.
I was patiently waiting for the time limit to end as I had promised so, I spent most of my time at Ryujin mansion and at Eldarf manor which housed the elves and dwarves.
The kids seemed to have heard about my spar with Roan and were disappointed that they didn’t get to see it. So, they requested me to have a spar with them as well, I agreed on the condition that all of them would fight me as a team.
The kids seemed to like the idea as they formed a combined team and we gathered at the training ground.
It wasn’t much of a trouble but I had allowed them to fight the way they want as it would help me train as well.
Their progress was quite clear as unlike when I saw them the last time when they were like the shattered shards of glass now those same kids were wielding their self-confidence and the strength as their weapons.
Sylvia seemed like she had taken charge as even for this training spar she was leading the team, she came at me first with her daggers and I saw the wink of silver before I jumped out of the way and the arrow that was rushing towards me from behind Sylvia lodged itself into the ground.
"Whoa, are you trying to kill me?" I chuckled as I landed but quickly jumped back again as Rowan smashed his large hammer on the ground.
"Didn’t you say we should fight you seriously unless we want to end up getting hurt?" He smirked and I laughed as I flipped midair avoiding another arrows that came my way.
The spar continued for around all day before the kids fell to the ground heaving and tired from all the movements.
"We... didn’t even get to... land one attack on him..."
"As expected of our Master!"
"He’s the strongest."
"I’m so beat!"
"Someone carry me back!"
All the kids lay on the ground while I stood in my spot looking at them.
"You did better than I expected." I spoke up making them all look at me.
"Really?!"
"We did!"
"Yes, your team work and the way you handled weapons was good, with time you’d improve even more." freewebnσvel.cѳm
Their faces brightened up and with the new burst of energy they pushed themselves ofd the ground and stood in front of me.
"Then we’ll work even hard to try and beat you next time." Rowan announced.
"Forget it, Master wasn’t even using magic that’s why you’re still standing." Kent spoke up as he appeared beside me.
"If he was using magic then this match would be done within ten seconds." He smirked and the kids looked at each other before the turned their gazes on me.
Kent’s words instead of intimidating them seemed to have worked in an opposite manner as their eyes glowed with eagerness.
"Let’s fight with magic next time."
"Yes, we’re practicing magic so, it’ll be fun if we fight like that!"
"Master, please!"
"Master, let’s fight using magic next time!"
I sighed with a smile as they gathered around me with pleading eyes.
"All right,"
The kids cheered up making me shake my head as I added, "but, you will have to show me how good you have gotten before I decide for that match till then you will have to keep practicing. Do you understand?"
"Yes, Master!"
The kids and I went inside the manor and I found Lyall in the drawing room waiting with a glass of juice and some snacks.
"What is it?" I asked and he cleared his throat.
"Master, Rune Aurelius is currently at the information guild." Lyall said and I frowned as I looked at the time.
It was already dark outside.
"What’s his request?"
"He’s looking for information about that person." Lyall said and I placed my leg one over the other as I took a sip of the juice and then looked at him.
"And?"
"It was accepted but it will still put him in danger. We had taken out three of the assassins who were following him."
The glass in my hand cracked as I heard that and I closed my eyes to control my anger before I reopened them.
"Who sent them?" I asked as Lyall sat down near my hand and gently dabbed my hand which was drenched with juice with his handkerchief.
"The same person." He answered.
"I didn’t know waiting was such an infuriating thing, Lyall."
"Shall I take care of him?" He asked looking up at me, his eyes held the glint which almost tempted me to order him to do what he wanted but, I had to hold on.
"Two more days. After that, I’ll skin him alive myself." I spoke and Lyall put his head down.
"I understand, Master."
For the next whole day I avoided going home as Rune’s condition had been growing worse, he had been going back and forth trying his best and had no idea as to what kind of dangers followed him everyday. I had put my assassins at his back to protect him from the shadows.
"I guess, I should get him to train here for some time so that he would be a bit more aware of danger." I mumbled.
"Who are you talking about, Master?" Sylvia asked as leaned against the arm of the chair where I was sitting reading some documents.
"A person who is important to me."
"Is he a dragon too?" She asked and I placed my hand on her head making her giggle.
"No, he’s a human."
She tilted her head slightly, "Then, you will protect him regardless, won’t you?""
"Yes, I protect him but he doesn’t want me to help he’s asked me to stay away from his matters, although it seems like he’s having a hard time." I chuckled a little.
She looked at me slightly confused and asked, "Why not? If he knows he can’t handle something then he should just rely on you, right?"
"It’s because he doesn’t want me to worry about it, he knows I can get his problem solved in no time but he is trying for himself because he doesn’t want to be dependent on me for everything." I said as I leaned back in my seat recalling his face when he was telling me to stay out of this matter.
"Rather, he must want to play that role that I play, he wants to be the one to help me and become the figure that I can rely on."
"It’s impossible, Dragons don’t rely on anyone." Sylvia spoke making me chuckle.
Dragons may not rely on anyone but brothers would like their sisters to rely on them.
"Well, I need to make him stronger so that he could protect himself." I said as I ruffled her hair making her smile with her eyes closed.
"Master?" Lyall walked up to me and handed me some documents and then looked at Sylvia.
"What is it?" I asked as I looked at the documents which made me frown.
"That..."
"Luke Clive attempted suicide."
The documents held a detailed report of his activites from the time since he left Eden. Needless to say, his social life was finished and even his family was having hard time. They were being ostracized for messing with the person who had a great influence over the social world as well as in Eden University.
He had been trying his best to deal with the situation but I guess whatever he did had ended up backfiring and now he had no hope left.
"He is currently in a critical condition, doctors are unsure of whether he will survive or not."
"What about Rune Aurelius?"
"He and his friends are at Clive mansion at this moment."
I studied the deteriorating condition of the household of Clive family and massaged my temples.
"There’s still one more day." I mumbled and clenched my fingers making the papers in my hands crinkle.
Just then I felt the soft and warm touch on my hand and I looked at Sylvia who was smiling up at me.
"The person important to you said that you couldn’t help him but what about this other person?"
I stared at her for a moment before a surprised chuckle left my lips.
"You’re really smart, Sylvia." I patted her head making her grin.
"Lyall," I spoke and he straightened up
"Yes, Master."
"Prepare to visit Clive mansion tonight." I announced as I placed the papers down and Lyall bowed.
"Yes, Master."
