Chapter 92: 91. Rescue The Victims (2)

The impaling of Baudir and all the others would have taken time but I had given the RA precise instructions that the faces of those who were to be nailed should be intact.

Their bodies were damaged leaving only their faces which could easily trigger Salem and his people. Apart from that, the evidence of their corruption and dirty acts was also spread through the people creating the wave of discontent.

It wasn’t an easy task but considering the numbers, RA was very well capable of doing it without much problems.

My team was positioned at the specific locations keeping an eye on the movements of the certain minions of the Tyrant. When the time comes, they would take out their targets instantly cutting off the limbs of the Tyrant.

For the present, I was doing my own work.

I replaced the earstud in my ear with the blue sapphire going back to Ocean’s body before I made my way towards the Prison building. The shift change was only for a five minutes so, I easily snuck inside when there were no guards on duty.

The geography and structure of the palace had changed significantly after Salem had taken up so, the information that the RA had about the old palace’s construction was useless.

It was considerably easy to sneak inside the Prison building but once inside it was a completely different matter.

I stepped inside the stone corridor watching the cells that were on both sides, there were people inside groaning and curled up inside their dark corners.

I walked ahead and looked for Alarice, hoping that he would be here but even after rounding the place twice I couldn’t find him.

There were people there but not as many as I could feel from beneath my feet. I could feel their feeble heartbeats seeping through the gaps in the stones and for some reason I couldn’t help but feel the absence of something.

I couldn’t help but feel pity for them as I moved ahead looking for the door that would lead to the lower level cells.

I could hear the despaired murmurs of the people around me along with the scent of their blood and rotting stench of all kinds of things. I couldn’t imagine what kind of hell Salem had made here.

I kept walking until I activated Mana Eyes and looked around, my eyes stopped on a particular wall and I walked over to it.

The inner mechanisms of the wall lay bare in front of me as I rose my hand and touched the handle of the burning torch.

It was connected to a lever which made the wall in the front move out of the way, I pulled the torch down and the sound of the cogs moving reached me. I could see every cog inside the wall and memorised the details before the wall whisked aside and the whiff of air that hit me made bile rise to my throat.

I covered my mouth and nose as I saw the stairs that went down, I placed a foot on the first stair and just as I went down three stairs the wall slid closed drowning me in darkness.

The feeling of suffocation and claustrophobia seemed to swell around me but that wasn’t even that bad.

The hot and heavy air seemed to be the second step of discomfort as I kept descending.

There was not even a little light even after I managed to reach till the base of the stairs.

I almost reeled back as I stepped on something which squished under my foot and felt wet.

I looked down and noticed the blood and some pieces of flesh which made me feel like my stomach wouldn’t be able to hold my meal anymore.

I moved ahead ignoring the sound of squishing and squelching beneath my feet and looked inside the cells that seemed to have a worse atmosphere down here.

I couldn’t breathe because of the unbearable stench of blood and rotting flesh and the sound of wailing and moaning that rose from all around me like tormented ghouls.

I kept walking ahead and looking around at the people, none of them seemed to have intact bodies, some of them were missing arms, some were missing their legs. It was a gruesome sight which would make anyone feel as if they were suddenly being transported to hell.

[Defender of Divine Glory wonders if you have stepped in hell.]

"What a coincidence! I was thinking of the same thing." I mumbled.

I scanned the whole lower level cell and checked around to see if there was something amiss and noticed something which made me feel a little relief in the midst of the pure agony that lay all around me.

I could hear their moans with every breath they drew and every drop of blood that dropped from their wounds.

I looked up once and noticed the lack of movement, nobody must have noticed any foul play yet so, I could work in peace.

There were too many here so, I would need time to look for Alarice and once I found him I could send all of them out of here together.

But for that, I would need to look in every cell, all of these people were ruined beyond repair in physical terms but even so, I had assumed that I would notice his aura before I could see him but there wasn’t any-

The sense of dread started gnawing at my mind and I shook my head. There was no way that Salem would get rid of the trump card in his hand. He didn’t know about Lady Dahlia so it was highly unlikely that he would make such a risky move.

But, what was stopping him? He was a Tyrant.

I calmed my train of thoughts and clenched my fists.

[Defender of Divine Glory has assigned you a task.]

[Rescue the Prisoners of Tyrant.

Reward: Increased synchronisation of Dragons Bloodline with your body by 10%.

Failure: Death of the Prisoners.]

My current synchronisation rate was around 40% and the growth of synchronicity took time, I had to meditate with utmost focus and even that would take time. It was like trying to fill a lake with a small glass.

"Accepted." I announced and walked over and stood in front of the first cell.

I gripped the iron bars and ripped them apart before entering the dark space. The figure inside who was slumped over the ground slowly stirred groaning with each movement.

"Are you a member of Revolutionary Army?" I asked.

There was no reply as I saw the person in front of me lying still on the ground with only his groans being the evidence that he was alive. He had no arms and even one of his legs was missing, his face was half pressed against the ground.

I walked ahead and crouched near the man.

"Can you hear me?" I asked softly and heard him groan.

He continued groaning and I couldn’t help but feel stupid for asking questions. These people here weren’t in the state of answering any of my questions.

I sighed and placed my hand over his back feeling the sensation of wetness stain my hand.

[Activate Supreme Healing.]

The mana within me rushed out and encompassed the body of the man, I felt him grunting a little before his body was healed and he stirred.

"Ugh... Ugh..." He squirmed before he managed to push himself to a sitting position.

"Wha... How... How is this?"

I could see him touching himself in darkness as it was too dark for his normal human eyes.

"Are you a member of the Revolutionary Army?" I repeated my question and the man looked up.

"Wha- Yes..." He answered and then asked, "Who-Who are you?"

"I’m here to save you and everyone here, so, tell me who all are here."

"We-We were captured at different times when we tried to launch attacks on the Beast and I can be sure that everyone here is a part of our Army."

"Good then," I spoke before I stood up and walked out of the cell.

"Wait, but who are you?" He asked.

I didn’t answer him as I stood in a spot and closed my eyes letting my mana whip out of me. To hell with the Tyrant knowing of my presence.

[Activate Supreme Healing.]

I could feel my mana surge out of me like a whirlpool and touch every living thing in the limited area that I had set.

I could feel the bodies of the people and slowly felt them heal and regenerate their missing body parts including their limbs, eyes, ears and everything that was ripped apart probably by the cheetahs which I had seen with Salem.

I sighed feeling bitter and mentally detached for a some reason before I was done.

Once the spell was done, I felt the exhaustion and drowsiness clouding over my senses.

"Wha-What just happened?"

"I-I can feel my legs!"

"M-My arms, my arms have grown back!"

"Wha-What the hell just happened?!"

"I’m healed! I’m healed!"

"I can hear!"

[Warning: Overuse of Mana detected.]
