The Kingmaker System-Chapter 99 - 98. Finally Over
Chapter 99: 98. Finally Over
I flapped my wings as I held Alarice while looking down at Salem’s body and the people who seemed to have finally noticed what had happened stared at the Tyrant before looking up at me.
"Dragon..."
"It was a Dragon, wasn’t it?"
"That Dragon killed the King."
"Tyrant is down!"
"Tyrant is down!"
"A Dragon descended!"
The people started shouting as I flapped my wings and turned and flew away, I landed on the roof of the nearest building which was still intact.
The rest of the capital along with the palace was destroyed to the point that it resembles the ruins that were on the outskirts of the capital.
"I... didn’t expect... a Dragon... to come for my rescue." Alarice’s voice was so weak that if not for my Dragon’s senses I couldn’t have heard him.
"It’s because of your son." I answered and focused my remaining mana.
"My son?"
"He’s here to save you and Lady Dahlia."
"Dahlia!" He suddenly straightened a little.
"How is she?"
"She’s fine, she must have already met with His Grace Davian by now."
"I... don’t even know how long it has been." He mumbled and I gently patted his shoulder.
"Master!" I heard a familiar voice and turned to see Lyall running towards me.
"Wait there." I said and he stopped in his spot making me sigh and look back at Alarice.
"I... I don’t know how they will feel after seeing me like this." Alarice muttered looking down at the stumps that were left of his legs.
"Don’t worry, you will walk back to him." I said making him look at me.
"What?"
I smiled a little before I activated the Supreme Healing spell. His eyes went wide for a moment as my mana flowed into his body and I closed my eyes focusing my mana.
It was repelled a little by the aura but because his aura was sucked away to a great extent it couldn’t resist for a long time and let my mana surge through healing the weakened body and starting to regenerate the lost limbs.
After a long moment, I opened my eyes and saw Alarice sitting in front of me with his eyes wide and staring down at his legs and then at his body which had regained some strength.
"With time, you will be able to regain the strength that you lost." I said feeling my ears starting to ring and my body slowly starting to lose strength.
"For now, let him take you to your family." I said pointing at Lyall.
"Lyall, please bring His Grace back to his family." I said and Lyall bowed slightly.
"Yes, Master."
Lyall walked up to us and helped Alarice up to his feet and I sat down leaning against the wall feeling the strength leaving my body.
"After you’ve dropped him off, come immediately back to me and don’t let him see you." I commanded. Lyall knew who this ’him’ was.
"Yes, Master."
"Wait a moment," Alarice spoke up and I looked at him.
"Who... Who are you?"
I smiled with my eyes growing droopy, "I’m Ocean... Ryujin."
My eyes slid closed as the notifications of me overusing mana flashed in front of me. I had been ignoring them since the time I used Dragon’s roar but after casting the Healing spell again, I must have really went overboard with it.
I didn’t fall unconscious as I just sat there with my eyes closed and focused on recovering my mana and breathing. The stabilizing of the mana in my body started and I couldn’t help but feel relaxed as I realised that it was finally over.
The war was done, Tyrant was down, now the people of RA could take care of the aftermath and deal with the Tyrant in their own way.
The truth was out, the corrupt ministers appointed by Salem were in custody of the Revolutionary Army and Miri could safely reclaim her throne.
Five years of wait for a child to return to her home.
Five years of wait for the people who had lost their everything to regain their world.
Five years of those who were wounded to finally get justice.
Five long years.
I heard two sets of footsteps approaching me, one of the set was softer and other seemed rather loud. A child and an adult.
I could recognise their scent though that’s why I didn’t react.
"I-Is he dead?"
"Is this really that Dragon?"
"Yes, but... is he..."
"He’s breathing, Your Highness. It seems like he’s passed out."
I felt the footsteps growing closer before I felt her body heat at my side, I felt her warm hand over my cheek.
"His cheek is so cold!" Miri cried out after touching my cheek.
"I’m alive, Your Highness." I mumbled making her gasp and fall behind.
I opened my eyes and looked at her, her surprised expression turned to ecstatic.
"Master Ocean!" She shouted as she lunged at me wrapping her arms around my neck.
I chuckled lightly as I patted her shoulder and then looked at the guy who brought her. A familiar redhead stood a few steps away with a wary expression on his face.
"I didn’t expect to see you here?" I spoke making him frown.
"Do you know me?" Roan asked as he stood there dressed as a normal citizen instead of a priest’s cassock.
"Why wouldn’t I know the guy whom I’m going to be taking with me?" I spoke making his frown to deepen.
"That way of talking, you-"
"Master!" Lyall called out as he appeared, he seemed a little out of breath as he passed by Roan and stopped in front of me.
"Ah, Your Highness." He bowed watching Miri.
"Oi, you’re that guy who was with Ace, right? Why are you calling him Master? Where’s Ace?"
"I have only one Master, Father." Lyall corrected.
Roan flinched slightly as he spoke, "I-I’m not the Father anymore but wait, you were Ace’s servant, weren’t you? So, who is he?"
Roan pointed at me, "Is he Ace’s brother or something?"
I chuckled making Lyall sigh and look at me.
"I’m the one who was with you at the chapel, Father." I spoke up making Roan scowl at me.
"Hah?! You were not! I distinctly remember how Ace looked like. You’re not Ace!"
I sighed, "I’m adept in disguising myself, Roan. I disguised myself as Ace, this is my real form."
Roan stood in his place looking as if he was finding it hard to believe.
"This was my plan since the beginning," I said pointing back at the street of the capital from where the cheers were resounding.
The cheers about the greatness of the Revolutionary Army and also about the fall of the Tyrant. The cheers were so loud that they might just be reaching heavens.
"I had to disguise to keep myself from being tailed." I answered and he still stood there looking dubious.
"Why are you here anyways? I told you to wait at the temple, didn’t I?" I asked making him give me a glare.
"And do what? I already thought you died!"
"Mr Zyran came to help with the groups of bandits and helped us fight the enemy soldiers." Miri answered and I placed my hand on her head ruffling her head a little making her smile.
"Is that so?"
"Oi, stop petting our future Queen’s head like that!" Roan scolded and I rolled my eyes.
"Are you all right, Master?" Lyall asked and I nodded.
"I’m just a little tired. I need a nap... possibly three to four days long." I mumbled.
"Are you a sloth?" Roan asked.
"Shut it," I grumbled.
"Let’s take you to the base. Everyone is waiting for you, the celebrations will take place after the Tyrant is punished for his crimes."
"Don’t waste time to decide his punishment, hang him or take his head out right away. It’s better to not take time or he will slip away."
Miri looked a little surprised before she nodded with a determined expression.
"I understand, Master Ocean." She said and I smiled patting her head again.
"You... You really are Ace." Roan spoke giving me a deadpan look.
"What?"
"This blatant way of speaking and uncaring attitude. You can’t be anyone else." He said and I smiled.
"Glad to see you finally recognise me, Father."
He flinched again, "I said I’m not a Father anymore."
"Oh, why? Father Marlowe finally got fed up and kicked you out?" I teased making him glare at me.
"Watch your mouth, brat."
"Ah, you should be the one to do that, you owe me one." I reminded and he clicked his tongue.
"Whatever."
"Besides, you two leave us for a while." I said looking at Lyall and Roan.
"What? Why?" Roan asked.
"Yes, Master." Lyall replied before he stood up and grabbed the back of Roan’s tunic before starting to drag him away.
"Oi, let go! Let go, I said!"
[Task complete.
{Defeat the Tyrant of Mordino.}
Rewards received: Friendly relations with the rightful monarch of Mordino.]
I let out a sigh watching the notification and heard the sounds of the cheers behind me.
[Goddess of Wisdom congratulates you for completing the task safely.]
[Defender of Divine Glory praises your intelligence and bravery.]
"You guys owe me an explanation." I replied.
"Um... Master Ocean?" Miri called and I turned my attention to her before letting my head rest on her little shoulder.
"It’s finally over."
