Chapter 126: Ch 126: One Sided fate- Part 3

Orion hesitated, visibly torn, but after another second of internal struggle, he slowly began dissipating the barrier. The energy field flickered before vanishing completely.

Rose’s expression twisted with triumph, his hold on Selene almost crushing as he let out a breathless laugh.

"I told you. Destiny is on my side. This is my win. And we are meant to be."

He said, his voice dripping with satisfaction.

But just as he took another step forward—

Pain.

White-hot pain shot through his arm as Selene twisted it at an unnatural angle.

A strangled yell tore from Rose’s throat, his confidence shattering in an instant.

Before he could even register what was happening, Selene drove her elbow into a precise nerve point, sending a searing shock through his body.

His grip failed and his knees buckled.

Selene ripped herself free and took several steps away from him, brushing nonexistent dust from her clothes with an annoyed sigh.

"I really don’t like being taken hostage. It’s such an unpleasant feeling."

She muttered, clearly remembering the other times she had been in a similar situation. Most of them had not ended well for either party.

Ethan smirked, arms crossed over his chest.

"That’s what you get for being such an easy target."

Selene shot him a glare.

"Excuse me?"

"I mean, let’s be real. You kinda walked into this one."

Ethan’s tone was teasing, but the sharp glint in his eyes showed he hadn’t taken any of this lightly.

Selene huffed, raising her hand as if to smack him, but before she could, a weak, hoarse voice interrupted them.

"H-how?"

Both Selene and Ethan turned their gazes back to Rose, who was still kneeling on the ground, clutching his injured arm. His face twisted with confusion, disbelief, and something close to fear.

"How are you moving? I used my ability on you. You shouldn’t be able to fight back."

He demanded, his voice cracking.

Selene tilted her head slightly, looking at him as if he were particularly dense.

"Did you really think I wouldn’t be prepared? I knew you’d come after me sooner or later."

She asked, amusement lacing her tone.

Realization dawned in Rose’s eyes. His lips parted slightly, his breaths coming faster.

He had underestimated her.

And he had made a grave mistake.

Desperation flashed across his face. His fingers twitched, his power flaring as he prepared to make a final attempt at escape. freēwēbnovel.com

But Selene was faster.

The moment she sensed the shift in his energy, she reached into her pocket and activated a small, sleek device.

A faint pulse of energy rippled through the air.

Rose froze.

His body stiffened, his abilities flickering out like a candle snuffed by the wind.

His eyes widened in shock.

"W-what...?"

Selene smiled, though there was no warmth in it.

"You didn’t think I’d come without a way to deal with you, did you?"

Panic surged through Rose’s expression. He struggled, trying to activate his powers again—nothing.

He was completely cut off.

His breathing turned ragged as he looked up at Selene, realization hitting him like a brick wall. For the first time since their encounter, true fear entered his gaze.

Selene crouched slightly, leveling him with a calm, almost amused expression.

"Your punishment is just starting."

She murmured.

Something in her tone sent an icy chill down Rose’s spine.

His infatuation—his so-called destiny—withered under the weight of his terror.

His crush on Selene disappeared in an instant.

Selene stood over Rose, watching him struggle against the suppression of his abilities. His breath came in uneven gasps, his eyes darting between them all with a mixture of fury and fear.

He looked like a caged animal, helpless and cornered, his earlier arrogance wiped away completely.

Now that they had him, the real question was—what should they do with him?

Selene folded her arms and turned to the others.

"Alright, so what now? We can’t just leave him here."

Orion, who had been maintaining a wary stance, immediately spoke up.

"We should turn him over to the authorities. His ability is dangerous, and he’s already caused enough problems. If we don’t do something now, who knows what he’ll do in the future?"

It was a logical suggestion, but the response was immediate.

"No."

Ethan’s tone was firm, absolute. Zara nodded in agreement beside him, her lips pressed into a thin line.

Selene wasn’t surprised. Orion might have meant well, but handing Rose over wasn’t an option.

Not yet.

"If we give him to the authorities, we’re basically just passing the problem along. His power is too dangerous. If he ever manages to influence someone in the system, he could manipulate his way back into freedom."

Zara said.

Ethan scoffed.

"I wouldn’t be surprised if he managed to brainwash an entire investigation team into thinking he’s some kind of misunderstood victim. And I really don’t feel like dealing with that."

His expression darkened as he looked down at Rose, who was glaring up at him with unhidden loathing.

Selene let out a small sigh.

"So handing him over isn’t an option. What do we do then?"

There was silence as they all considered their options.

After a moment, Selene spoke again, her voice measured.

"We can suppress his abilities for now with an ability nullifier. That’ll give us some time to observe him before deciding what to do."

Ethan gave her a skeptical look.

"And what happens when the nullifier wears off?"

Selene smirked.

"Simple. We make sure he can’t act up. We have him sign a contract.."

She glanced down at Rose, who was still bound, but very much alert.

Zara tilted her head.

"A contract?"

"A magically binding one. If he tries anything, he’ll suffer the consequences."

Selene clarified.

The idea seemed to settle better with the group.

"A forced contract. That might work."

Orion muttered.

Ethan rolled his shoulders, cracking his neck.

"Yeah. We make him promise not to pull any more of his ’fated destiny’ nonsense. If he breaks it—"

He grinned, sharp and predatory.

"—then he deals with the fallout."

It was a solution everyone could agree on.
