Transmigrating to Modern Earth from the Future-Chapter 54: A new level
Chapter 54: A new level
[Rabid wolf - Level 21]
Lumen was met with the surprise that the wolf was actually the first being inside the tutorial that was over level 20, and his anticipation rose as he was eager to test how strong such a beast would be.
He completely ignored the level he had also gained in his Basic Inspect skill just from scanning this one wolf. His proficiency in the skill had jumped from 43% to 100% instantly.
Confidence filled Lumen as he faced the beast head on, not faltering one bit before it despite being 6 levels below it. He had long since theorised that he would be able to deal with any normal beast below level 25 now that he had the Epic rank Arcane Spear in his hands.
With a smile on his lips, he drew the spear into his hands and lifted it above his shoulder as he prepared a mighty throw. He sauntered over to the powerful beast as it easily towered over him at the very least being three and a half metres tall.
Lumen could feel the power hidden within it’s lean body, and even without the addition of any special talents like the darkness element like the Elite wolf he had fought previously held, this beast was easily on par with it’s power, most likely even higher.
The wolf was built like a slender tank and no doubt had a hide even thicker than anything he had come across before. However, Lumen’s confidence was still unwavering as he had no doubts that his spear could penetrate deep into it’s hide with ease. frёewebnoѵēl.com
As he inched closer, the wolf seemed to have finished it’s rest as it suddenly jolted awake and glared right into Lumen’s eyes. It didn’t immediately attack him like all of the other lower level wolves as it simply observed him.
But he still held a sense of internal unease towards the beast as he could feel that if he even took a few steps closer to the huge thing, it would charge right at him without a doubt.
Lumen still held the spear above his shoulder, this time charging it up with mana just like he did with the wolf groups previously, only this time he made sure to pour over a quarter of his mana in it in one go, wanting to deal the most powerful blows he could.
He didn’t waste any time after his spear had started to glow a blue hue and immediately took a leap forward and entered the beast’s range. His instincts were right on the dot as the wolf met his charge in kind with it’s own as it produced a howl that shook the whole cave and made it’s own charge towards him.
He gladly met this charge head on as he didn’t even hesitate to go toe for toe with the beast, trusting his own strength.
If Will, Jake, Qu Quan or any other human for that fact saw Lumen charging head on towards the beast despite being 6 levels lower, as well as fighting it solo, they would think that he was one a suicide mission.
The result of the two ramming into each other was expected as Lumen was sent flying by the wolf towards the hard stone wall behind him. But not before he managed to land a deep stab to the wolf’s jaw with his spear. This strike didn’t inflict any critical damage, nor did it strike any vitals. All it did was anger the wolf even more as it snarled and growled from the pain.
It launched a flurry of terrifying attacks with both it’s snout and paws, this time Lumen decided to dodge these attacks as he rolled to the side and manoeuvred himself around the huge wolf, keeping out of reach of it’s snout and front paws. He felt a certain sense of danger from it’s frenzied attacks, meaning it could actually deal significant damage to him if it landed a hit.
This didn’t discourage Lumen though, instead it invigorated him even further as the thrill of the fight filled him with excitement. Actually having a challenging fight was much more preferred than just one shotting every low level wolf that he came across.
Although the beast didn’t have the ability to incorporate the darkness element into it’s attacks, it still seemed to have some sort of understanding of it as following Lumen’s incessant dodges, it shrouded itself in darkness, limiting Lumen’s vision of the beast and only allowing him to see a vague silhouette where the wolf stood.
’Dammit, this wolf is actually pretty smart... tsk.’
Lumen lamented in his mind as the wolf had caught on to what he was doing. It knew that he was trying to position himself for the optimal time to strike it’s major arteries connecting it’s hind legs to the rest of it’s body. This was a trick he had long learned from killing so many wolves over the past weeks.
Although the smarter wolves knew that using their paws in battle alongside their razor sharp teeth was more efficient than just using it’s mouth, they were still unable to utilise their hind legs properly in battle.
The same held true for this level 21 wolf, yet it seemed to be intelligent enough to realise this fact itself and shrouded itself, not allowing Lumen to know which part of it’s body he was looking at.
Forced to retreat away due to the unexpected tactics of the beast, Lumen wasn’t annoyed but rather his excitement kept growing.
This fight was nothing like his previous fights with humans who had attacked him. Those fights had been out of greed or selfishness whereas this fight between the wolf and him was one for survival alone.
But Lumen had also developed an appreciation for the stronger beasts as the fights were more interesting. They were the only thing that actually entertained him down in this monotonous and boring dungeon.
His new books also kept him somewhat entertained during his downtimes, but the thrill from a real life fight was far different than the thrill of a good story.
