The Kingmaker System-Chapter 129 - 128. Origin Of The Change
Chapter 129: 128. Origin Of The Change
"It’s named, Oasis Foundation." I announced.
Roan’s eyebrows jumped and he seemed to have recalled the documents that he studied.
"You mean this place is a part of your dream plan?" He asked and I smiled.
"Dream plan?" Remi asked looking confused.
"Yes, this is the beginning of the change of this kingdom."
Roan had the basic idea of it but Remi seemed completely clueless so, I just let it be at that.
"You’ll know with time." I said and then looked at Enora gesturing for her to continue.
We reached in front of another building that was a slight bit different from the other two buildings, it was larger and way more spacious than the other two.
There were two wings at connected to the main building with an open hallway and a garden that surrounded the whole place.
"Wow, this place is so huge..." Remi marvelled as he looked at the building.
"It’s a school, Remi." I said making his eyes glow.
"A school?"
"The furniture is still being placed but all the classrooms have been set up, the dormitories have also been prepared along with the mess hall. We can start at the time that you estimated, Master." Enora explained as we toured the large space.
Remi and Roan were starry eyed as they watched the beautiful infrastructure of the place, the spacious classrooms, halls, dormitories and mess hall.
"This place is so grand. I wonder who will be lucky enough to come and learn from this place." Remi breathed as he looked all around.
"The common people." I answered and Remi stopped.
He looked at me for a moment with a perplexed expression.
"Pardon?"
"The common people." I repeated and his jaw slackened.
"An administrative office, a hospital and finally this school." Roan said, "All of them for the common people of the kingdom."
Remi looked at Roan and then at me.
"I-It’s not for the rich and noble people?" He asked.
"Of course, they can come if they want to." I said.
"I told you this place is the beginning of the change that I’m about to bring in this kingdom and this world. So, feel yourself to be fortunate to be here right at this moment." I smiled.
"Wi-Will I be able to study here?" He wondered and I chuckled placing my hand over his head ruffling his hair.
"Of course you can, as of now, I’m recruiting teachers from various places to come work here."
"A lot from Eden have decided to shift ever since what happened," Enora added and Remi looked at me with twinkling eyes.
"So, learn whatever you want and then, come join me if you want." I said and he grinned.
"What about me?" Roan asked.
"What do you want to do amidst kids?" I asked him.
"What?" He gasped making me laugh.
"It’s fine, Roan if you want to learn you can do so, but you do remember that you start working tomorrow, right?"
His face grew pale and he sighed.
"Right, I remember."
"Good, I guess, I can rest easy from tomorrow."
"Don’t just dump all your work on me!"
I laughed at that before we made our way back to the Eldarf mansion to check on Eric and Rune and from there to Ryujin mansion.
The time after that seemed to have been passing in fast forward as I was busy interviewing the professors with Enora and some handful trusted scholars for my Oasis Academy.
I had to be extra careful with the people that I would take in as they would not only be taking care of my foundation but also of the people whose lives I was aiming to improve.
Building a township and giving them a means of livelihood wasn’t the only thing that I wanted to do for them. I wanted for them to realise that they could still achieve more. I was aiming to bring modernization to this place.
A place where educated minds would thrive. Oasis Foundation would be the origin of the change that I was aiming to bring.
I had left the recruitment of the hospital to Doc who was better at it but still none of them would be on work without my signature so I was still very busy.
The place was meant to start by the beginning of winter and for that I needed more reliable and trustworthy manpower.
Apart from that, my influence in underworld was also expanding everyday. Up till now I had received various invitations from the so called Bosses of the Underworld to come and attend the meetings or at least to show my face but I never went.
First, Izkar and now Herot, each territory had their own black market city which one person or guild managed. Now that there was suddenly a person who took over two places at once, I was a topic of curiosity and also a target.
But since the people didn’t know how the real Ocean Ryujin looked like they were searching about me from the information guilds not knowing that I was taking over them as well.
I would be stupid if I let any information guild slip from my grasp if I had to keep my identity a secret and my work to be untouched.
Still, before I knew it, it was time for me to go see the Golden Serpent again.
The banquet to celebrate the return of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess to the kingdom was only a fortnight away and we were supposed to leave for the capital tomorrow.
I had brought Rune back just a few hours ago and unmistakably could feel the exponential growth of his potential in the air around him.
His mana flow had become sharper and I could see him adapting well to his surroundings as well. His body language was harmonised and even his steps held the confidence which was lacking at first.
"I guess your time at Eldarf mansion has done you good, Brother." I smiled and he smiled back.
"Yes, I am good at slicing up things now." He said and I chuckled at the underlying meaning of it.
"Don’t tell me you came across some nuisance."
"Well," he shrugged his shoulders and I recalled the time that I heard of a few assassins who tried to infiltrate Oasis and even the Ryujin mansion but they were taken care of.
I guess Rune had met up with the security team and learned their ways as well.
"Good thing, I guess." I shrugged my shoulders letting it slide.
"By the way, Eric is scared of snakes." He said with a mischievous smile making me chuckle.
"You seem to have become quite close to him."
"Yes, we kind of did." He said with a smile.
At night, I requested Dad to meet me in the library.
I sat in my chair with the game of chess in front of me and an empty seat as I waited for Dad.
The door opened and Dad walked in after a few minutes. He walked over and sat down in front of me without any word.
"Is there... some plan you need to discuss, Reina?" He asked once he settled over.
I gestured for him to start the game and he obliged before I started speaking.
"You have to propose a business plan to the King in this upcoming banquet." I said and Dad paused before he looked at me.
"Pardon?"
"You have to propose a business plan to the King in this upcoming banquet." I repeated and he blinked thrice before he pointed at himself.
"Yes, it has to be you."
He was quiet for a moment before he looked down and made his move.
"And... what is this proposal about?"
"A deal with Mordino."
"Mordino?"
I nodded and made my move.
"You will suggest that since Grand Duke Davian helped solve the problem of their Tyrant we should take the chance and make gold out of this opportunity."
"How?" He asked.
"Suggest to open a Magic Gate there to help with the trade and that way we can also ease the travel that happens between the two kingdoms. He must be fuming because of the return of Grand Duke so, this will distract him for a while and make him do what I want."
Dad started down at the game before he took out my bishop and then sighed.
"So, you want the connection to be established between Sestia and Mordino?"
I nodded as I took out his knight.
"But the Mage’s Tower might not listen to him."
"Not if he uses the Imperial order." I said.
He nodded in understanding and took out my knight.
"This might also affect the war with Denril, with Mordino’s supports gone because of their civil war, you think the King will agree?" He asked and I smiled.
"He will have to and you will persuade him that way."
"I will?"
"Yes," I assured him.
"You just have to use the right words and make sure his greed gets triggered. He will do the rest on his own."
"What if he does something unnecessary like trying to influence Mordino to get them to side with Sestia for the war?"
"He won’t be able to, Mordino isn’t going for any war, besides, without consulting me Miri might not move."
"Miri?"
"The Queen of Mordino."
"You address her so informally..."
"She’s of my age and also a friend." Dad looked at me with a slight frown.
"Does she know that you..."
I nodded, "I told her."
"What?!" Dad gasped and I waved my hand.
"It’s fine, she is a good person. I told her to ease her mind."
Dad sighed and I took out his rook.
"I don’t understand your way of doing things, Reina..."
I smiled as he made a move and I pulled a check.
"But, I’ll do it." He announced.
"I’ll make sure His Majesty does what you want."
