Chapter 97: 96. Tyrant Rule Ends (1)

The glow of the red stone faded as soon as Clyde’s blood was wiped off and I couldn’t help but stare at it as Lyall held it in his hand.

"What... is this?" Lyall wondered aloud.

"Something that needs investigation. Keep it safe and leave the palace." I ordered and Lyall looked at me.

"Yes?"

"Plan B had been activated. The forces must be converging to the capital. Go and take your position."

"Ah... Yes." He seemed a little hesitant as I turned to look around trying to locate Salem.

"Where’s he?" I asked.

"He? Scorpion?" I nodded.

"I didn’t see him," he admitted and started reporting of what happened before I arrived.

Lyall seemed to have stayed in the palace after I left- was taken back to the Revolutionary Army’s headquarters. Since I wasn’t there he must have been worried and wouldn’t have known what to do.

I was glad that he was safe though.

The rest of the team stormed the palace only around two hours ago and were rampaging all over. The might of the Tyrant’s army was great that’s why it was hard to take them out probably with only the emotions as my people thought.

Still, they tried their best and engaged in a battle. Burglar and Sniper took over the horde of guards, while Cook fought with the two mutant cheetahs and finally, Lyall was taking out Drac and Clyde.

And all this while, the Tyrant was missing.

"But, there were no reports of him leaving palace." I mumbled.

"Then, he must be at one of the forbidden places." Lyall suggested and I looked up at him.

The two places that were impossible to infiltrate, one of them was the Prison and second was the treasure room.

"All right, I get it. Now leave this place and wait for me at the decided location with others when everything is over. Get it?"

"Yes, Master." He said.

I could see the glint in his eyes with a small relieved smile on his face.

"I’m sorry, I came late." I said as I stepped ahead and placed my hand over his shoulder making him sigh.

"I’m glad you’re only late, Master." He spoke making me squeeze his shoulder a bit.

"Go."

He nodded before he turned and left.

Since I didn’t have time, I made my way towards the Prison building which was the closest and unfurled my wings and flew towards it.

I activated my Mana Eyes and scanned the building but there was no sign of Salem in there.

I frowned a little before I turned and flapped my wings started flying towards the treasure room which was located on the other side of the now crushed audience hall.

I spotted a few young boys who were hiding near the smashed building and I saw a familiar face who seemed like he was trying to calm the harried boys.

I slowed down and hovered over the huddled up boys who looked up and their faces instantly paled as they saw me.

"Wh-Who are you?"

"We-We’re going to die!"

They seemed terrified and even Azmi seemed slightly scared. It was safe for them to leave yet they were still here as if they were chained to this place.

"Leave this place, you’re free now. The war is happening so, find a safe place to hide." I instructed.

The boys stared at me for a long moment seeming confused.

"It’s impossible to leave." One of them said.

"The King is invincible."

"We can never be free."

I looked at Azmi and spoke up, "Lead them out of here. The Tyrant’s rule ends today for real."

"B-But..."

"Look around you, you think the Tyrant is still going to be the ruler?" I asked and for once those boys looked at the fallen guards and the demolished building before they seemed to have grasped the reality.

"Le-Let’s run... We can take chance, we can run far, far away where he won’t reach us."

"I-I agree."

"But..."

"If he finds us..."

"This is your chance though, I won’t guarantee your lives if you keep lingering here." I warned making them all fall silent and look at each other.

I looked around trying to locate the Salem’s aura while the boys discussed and decided to leave and started to get each other up.

"Wait, we can’t leave without Lynx." Azmi suddenly shouted making me look at him.

"Who?"

"That new slave?"

"He’s been gone for two days. He might already be..."

"No, I’m sure he’s trapped somewhere." Azmi said and then looked up at me.

"Um... there was one more of us... He-He has blonde hair and he’s really skinny. I-If you find him please save him as well."

I couldn’t explain Azmi that the person he was so worried about was right in front of him.

"All right, I’ll keep an eye out for him." I said and he still looked a bit wary.

"Now hurry and leave this place before you’re caught in some other trouble." I ordered and the boys straightened up.

"Um... A-Are you... looking for His Majesty?" Azmi asked and I looked down at him.

"Yes,"

He looked at the other boys who had walked a few feet away and then looked back up at me.

"He must be at the basement below the treasure room."

"Basement?"

"Yes, he has this special room down there, he... Once talked about it being his real treasure trove..."

"Treasure trove?" I wondered and he nodded.

"That... he said that if I pleased him well then... He will show it to me so... I saw it only once."

A secret place under the treasure room?

Azmi explained to me briefly about the layout of this secret basement room which was only ever seen by the special people. Not even the courtiers of the Tyrant went to this place.

"I... I am sure that His Majesty must be at that place." Azmi said and then his expression turned to worried.

"Also, please look for that boy whom I told you about. His name is Lynx."

"All right, thanks Azmi." I said and flapped my wings watching his shocked face.

"How..."

I smiled a little before I turned and made my way towards the treasure room.

It was a couple of meters away from the audience hall and normally no one was allowed to enter this place except for the Tyrant himself or at rare occasions someone whom he trusted.

Considering what I had seen up till now, I could assume that he was really up to no good with what he had down there.

I had only assumed he was a greedy bastards who wanted to be the ruler but it seemed like his greed had taken over his reason and drove him to the point that he started delving into stuff that he probably wouldn’t be able to control.

Just as I flew towards the treasure room I felt the strong shockwave making the air tremor and I couldn’t help but have a really bad feeling about it.

I rushed towards the treasure room and smashed through the ceiling as I didn’t have enough time to go using a door and kept shattering the floors until I landed in the place which was at the very last level.

The prior all floors were filled with different kind of treasures ranging from gold, jewels, expensive items and all kinds of things that could cost fortune.

Yet, what I wanted here was the source of the aura that was so hostile that I felt as if my Dragon’s blood was itching to transform me despite my synchronicity being only 50%.

I walked ahead down the tunnel as Azmi had told me about, it led deeper down and I could feel the aura swelling as if it was growing more and more.

It wasn’t because I was walking closer to it but because the aura was growing. Just like mana it was impossible for aura of a person to grow more than it was so, I was sure that Salem was conducting something to grow stronger.

My Dragon’s Presence must have triggered this.

I stopped once I saw the blue light streaming out of the doorway and saw the large room filled with a strange scent and also with a large device which seemed like too futuristic to be in this place that was like an elephant in the room.

The device had a large glass globe with the tubes going in and out of it connected to the four pillars which had some sort of script engraved on them. The blue light was emanating from those letters and filling the large room with an eerie blue glow.

Aura... It was aura. But how...

My eyes widened and I almost stumbled back as I saw the person who was suspended mid air in the glass globe and the blue light that was being ejected from his body.

"Wha..." I gasped.

The sight made my blood boil as I saw the one whom I was here for being trapped in that glass globe, Grand Duke Alarice Montaire. His body was reduced to skin and bones, he seemed like he was barely alive. His legs were gone and his arms were nothing but sticks by his sides.

I then turned and saw where this blue light was getting stored.

"Salem..." I growled and the said man turned and looked at me with his eyes glowing gold and his aura swollen to the point of making me feel as if I was being repelled.

"I’ve been waiting for you," he spoke with a wide, sinister grin.

"Dragon."
